"They didn't totally fuck it up!" - Red Letter Media

High praise in these trying times.

Bill and Ted Face the Music was released on August 28th in theater and through various on-demand services. Anyone see it or planning on seeing it yet? On the face of it, looks like it makes more sense then the John Wick sequels. Plus apparently it has a powerful message of how 'everyone should get along." :sneaky:

It's going to be weird seeing Reeves return to his roots after all the badass-ness he's done in the past few years. The memes will be glorius.

I just saw it. Overall it was o.k. and felt simalr to the other movies with a clueless Bill and Ted stumbling along.

It played on nostalgia a bit to much but they did managed to work in some new jokes. The subplot with their kids was probably one of the better parts actually.

The downsides are the time travel plots make little sense and became over complicated. I also think that future Bill and Ted being kind of manipulative is out of charater for them. There is also a bit of strong women save the day but overall the humor makes it bearable.

The movie has plot holes but can be forgiven since it is just a dumb collage comedy level movie. It reminded me of similar movies like Dude Wheres My Car and Wanye's World.

It won't be a classic but as time waster it is funny even if it has little rewatch vaule.

Interesting article on the financials of the film...

Apparently the film cost 25 million to make, plus a fifteen million dollar marketing budget and thus cost roughly 40 million to produce and make.

It saw a limited theatrical run (there was only like one theater that played it around here and it was miles away so even though I'd of preferred to see it in theater, I didn't) of about a thousand screens and made 3.3 million in the box office. Streaming however, it has made 32 million dollars... as of the article and considering it's still being purchased and rented, and considering it will eventually be released on home media via Blu Rays and DVD's and so forth and future television and streaming agreements which themselves will be worth ten million or more dollars in the future, it seems like this film will make bank despite it all.

I mean it is no different then the old direct to video releases. It is a valid option for smaller cult flim like this one. They are never going to be Frozen blockbusters but you can make money with cheaper movies. Something Hollywood has been forgetting snice the 90's summer blockbusters
