Breaking News Big Companies are Abandoning Facebook

The interesting bit to me is here:

Jen Felch, Dell's chief digital and chief information officer, said people stopped using social logins, for reasons that include concerns over security, privacy and data-sharing.
The people are the ones driving it, they've quit using the social logins and companies are following suit as they become useless.

Well, FB is slowly becoming a relic. Looking at what this company is doing lately. I don't regret it.

The analysis I've read suggests that Facebook's taking it from both directions simultaneously. Apple's privacy policy lets them take big bites out of Facebook's userbase. Specifically, Apple's grabbing all the people who care about their data. And for the people who don't care about their data, TikTok provides a better experience so they're abandoning Facebook from that direction. Facebook's caught in the middle with nothing going for it except that it has a big userbase and... the userbase is leaving so they've got nothing.

Facebook bet a hail mary pass on Metaverse giving them a leg up by providing an experience Apple and TikTok couldn't match. Given that turned out to basically be graphics technology from 1990 wedded to extremely basic chatroom stuff, it clearly wasn't enough, especially since they apparently spent billions on something that looks like a fanproject on Newgrounds.

Facebook has outlived its usefulness. The paradigm of Glabalist aims has shifted. Facebook allows for too much user agency and individuality, people can comment and be heard. We can't have that anymore, now that the consensus must be enforced.

Their Meta shift is just laughable. They spend billions to make a worse version of VRChat. Some furfags did better stuff for free. Probably because they had a soul while doing it.
