I think that, along side the post-WW1 treatment of Germany and going a bit too far in some places in post WW2 Germany*, the West working with the USSR in WW2** and giving over Eastern Europe to them were our greatest mistakes. They were certainly our most stupid or naive ones.

*Nazism had to go, no argument here. However, I fear that we fatally wounded German culture by going too far in some ways. In a large part due to the British at least wanting to make sure Germany Knew It’s Place this time around and being salty in general.

**siding with the Nazis against the Soviets would have been at least as bad (both morally, culturally and tactically) as what we actually did IRL. What I’m saying is that we shouldn’t have coordinated with or given so much aide to the Soviets. Let them and the Nazis gut each other. We certainly should not have given Eastern Europe to them.

What I took from that film are the parallels to today, where we have people attempting to slice us up into competing groups based on irrelevant factors in the hopes of riding the chaos and such into power.

According to Rafał Ziemkiewicz and his book "Strollowana rewolucja" /my translation - trolled revolution/,it is even worst.

Leftist are just useful idiots used by Big Dough ,who do not have any plans except destroing society, becouse people then would never fought and buy more their products.
Which,of course, would let to disaster for them,to - but becouse they are lead by menagers who though only about how much they sell, and unable to think any further,it is impossible to stop now.

According to author,West arleady is dead, and only countries with still existing nations could survive. And what we get after current regime fall,is impossible to predict.
But - he has hope, becouse barbarians were cyvilized once after fall of Rome,so it could happen again.

That's been a theme throughout history: "Divide and conquer" and "Defeat in detail".

There's the even older "Pin and flank" pack predators (us included) instinctively use when taking on prey larger than we are and which can effectively fight back. A large caiman caught on land has almost zero chance of not becoming lunch when a pair of giant river otters decides it looks tasty.

"but he met this girl at the bar, and she looked kind of cute... after a couple of drinks."
Nice qualifier.

It's interesting that, in 1947, they show a black kid playing base ball with white kids, and a black guy in a crowd of white people like that. Of course, this is probably supposed to be set in New England, so not exactly the Deep South, but there were still a lot of extant prejudices at the time. Not to mention, the foreign older man has a German Hungarian accent only a few years after the war.

If the government was making films about combating prejudice in order to foil Communism that early, then that implies that the Soviet plans to use race and other identitarian politics to break apart the US started a lot earlier than most people recognize. Or, the US saw them using it in Eastern Europe to pacify their conquests and predicted that they would try to use it on the West as well.

Not terribly accurate in regards to the order or rationale of NSDAP actions, or those of the other factions in the country. But then again, it is actual propaganda... Accuracy was never the point.

That was also made while the Army was still segregated. It was probably made to prepare for de-segregation.

My great-grandfather lead French troops during WWI because Wilson re-segregated the Army and no Nip would be allowed to lead "real Americans".

Google says this is old slang for a Japanese person. Which would make sense, but then again, slang rarely makes sense, so I am suspicious of it.
The only traceable ancestors I have which were not born in the US were a pair of siblings who fled Japan in the 1850s. I have no traceable ancestors who aren't their descendants.

Man, that sounds like a lot of incest. 😂 The family vine started with a pair of siblings over 170 years ago.

I'm dying over here. Seriously, phrasing dude.

More seriously though, your ancestor was an NCO? I doubt he would have been allowed to be an officer at the time, and even if he was he wouldn't have likely been given the power to command the number of troops an officer would have been expected to, even if they were French.

My siblings and I are more inbred than an Ancient Egyptian Pharoah. Our children all have one mixed-race parent. Racisim sucks.

As for the other part. He was an officer and the grandson of a Samurai who fought for the Union during the US Civil War as part of the Lightning Brigade.
