A Mad Max What If

Here is the scenario. What if all the events in Mad Max happened. World War III took place. Nato and the Warsaw Pact slung nukes at each other etc. But what if all of the nukes that landed outside of Australia duded out. Yep only the land down under got slagged and everywhere else is more or less normal. But for some reason the rest of the world is not intervening in what is taking place in Australia. What do you think the reason might be? What is your best guess?

Special Note: Due to the duded out Nuke Exchange most of WWIII was a purely conventional war. It lasted 4 years and 2,500,000 people died on both sides. And ended in a Stalemate with both sides agreeing to stop fighting. But they are still in a Cold War stance.

After a massive war with that sort of death toll, ending in a stalemate, others countries are probably more concerned with fixing their own problems and shoring up their defences for the potential resurgence of conflict. If Australia was basically completely wiped out, there's little value in spending resources trying to help the small pockets of people that remain, and a lot of difficulty in coordinating it given that the government is basically completely gone. Maybe there is some aid being given, just very small amounts and to the more easily accessible coastal regions.

Plus there'd be a bit of mystique around it -- all of our nukes were useless except the tiny number of that hit Australia? Aliens or the Illuminati or whoever was responsible for that really didn't like Australia and we probably shouldn't piss them off.
