Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

Could we say that the Federal forces basically won this one?

Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

Generally speaking Vietnam or Egypt are safer than Brazil, as far as I know. Murders everywhere are not universal at lower-middle-income levels. Right. Maybe I should use comparision with Egypt. There was potential in Ethiopia to be a peer power to Egypt, or stronger one. And now...

Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

More like Brazil, but with less crime. Of course now the situation looks... less hopeful than in 2015.

Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

I think that some people are almost happy about the situation, like it's a rebel alliance from a sf movie, but the reality is more complex. This whole situation is a great tragedy for Ethiopia. Before this nonsense they were still extremely poor, but like China during early 1990s, had 10%...

Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

Forces of Tigray are greatly expanding the war, deeply entering provinces to their south. If this continues, capital of Ethiopia may be in danger of falling. Edit: After some more reading about the current situation: it seems that Tigrayans are stopped by the Federal force, at least for now...

Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

I heard that the Ethiopian forces are pretty gutted leadership-wise, given how many officers from Tigray they had before this mess. The rebels enjoy much better educated forces, as before balance of political power between tribes changed - they were essential for leadership of the federal army.

Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

... From a perspective of a few months, I'm less and less and less impressed with how this war is waged. Either the government is unable to control forces in the field, or guilty of things that may be arguably called war crimes. Eh.

Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

Husky Khan is of course sarcastic, obvious in this context IMHO. On the other hand. I genuinely see nothing surprising in federal Ethiopian reactions to one tribe arresting federal officials and attacking military base. As far as African states go, federal military seems to be even competent...

Potential Civil War or Succession Crisis in Ethiopias Northern Tigray Region

Like, his Nobel Peace Prize may be funny in context of this mess, but what he was supposed to do, ignore that Tigray arrests federal officials?
