There was also some housecleaning in Center Township: https://cbs4indy.com/news/indycrime/embattled-center-township-constable-fires-all-her-deputies-after-legal-issues/ Yup, every single one of them got a pink slip.

Agreed. Clayton, MO didn't need that extra money. The parking meters downtown were more expensive than the parking fine if you needed to be there all day during the week. Meter for 9-10 hours? $4.50-$5.00 with a 2hr max on the clock, IIRC.

It would be nice if more places handled parking violations like Clayton, MO did back when I was in school: $1 if you went to City Hall and paid the fine within 30min. $3 fine if paid within 30days. After that? Arrest warrent. They'd only tow the vehicle if it was left there for days and...

Fixed, definitely. Done away with alltogether is a tougher one in my mind. Heavily restricted to obvious situations where it's very clear "this cop was acting in good faith but made an honest mistake" without letting the department they work for off the hook when it comes to paying for said...

In theory the cop could have cited the motorcyclist coming up behind him for speeding. However, the motorcyclist didn't pass him. In practice, "I didn't pass the cop" will get that tossed by a judge almost immediately so cops usually don't bother. This cop was out to cite for more than just a...

They'll never admit it and it's probably not written down anywhere ... cops do have traffic citation quotas because of all that sweet sweet ticket revenue. This cop was a) being a dick and b) attempting to manufacture an excuse to write one.

https://wreg.com/news/local/tyre-nichols/five-officers-involved-in-tyre-nichols-death-booked-into-jail/ Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy's press conference just ended. The talking heads are discussing it on TV at the moment. These cops might actually get punished.

Your Libertarian ass doesn't understand that doing distasteful things is sometimes necessary. Those cops think what they were told to do wasn't necessary and proper.

The cops who did that weren't happy with their orders and are quite happily explaining why they aren't happy with those orders.

That's cop misbehavior and in no way indicative of how polite society should work.

I think some of that law was prompted by the Carmel Police Department deciding to go after and arrest an off-duty State Trooper because he and his car "didn't fit the neighbourhood" with "driving while black" tossed in for fun.

There's also the fact that a 9yr old girl weighs about 65lbs. That may not seem like much when compared to an adult man but she's a good 15lbs-40lbs heavier than an adult Clouded Leopard and just as difficult to handle safely when she's upset with you.

I'm guessing that someone thought he didn't have insurance and couldn't pay the ER bill. Meanwhile, in a sane ER one of the first things they'll do is draw blood and send it to a lab.

Unlike Monaco, Rockville does not allow BS like F1 cars on city streets unless they're street legal without modifications. My brother-in-law's '08 Koenigsegg CCX is somehow street legal and emissions compliant. An F1 car is not and also slower.

It's both. A cop saying "please don't do that" to jaywalking is basically telling you to be more careful when you cross the street because automobiles do not stop on a dime and you are squishy.

"Papers, please" should not be a thing in the US. Those cops should have done nothing more than give him a verbal warning along the lines of "If see you jaywalking again, I will have to give you a citation" and ask for his name/ID so they can call it in and check for outstanding arrest...
