My nitpicks aside - I'm greatly enjoying your story.

I think the '96 season was the last D-IA football season where ties didn't result in overtime. I might be off by a year.

Minor nitpick: Arizona St. v. Northwestern would have ended with a tie instead of going to overtime during the '96 season. The sun devils are 11-0-1. The wildcats are 10-1-1.

While there's no rule prohibiting female MLB players neither Seira nor Kouta was ever even offered a spot on a minor league roster. They probably would have said no to a minor league spot because that would have meant taking a massive pay cut.

In '96 no baseball team was escaping the real Seira and my deceased cousin Kouta when they were batting 1-2. Seira hit .412-ish and drew walks like they were candy (she's practically impossible to strike out). Kouta hit about .465 and could aim inside-the-park home runs.

I didn't see it but I've been told that Seira once drew a 17-pitch lead-off walk against a former MLB pitcher. Something like that breaks the opposing bullpen before her quickness was taken into account. She'd be on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd about half time and looking to steal a base before the 2nd...
