So, this is turning out to be a winning geopolitical move for the US. Allow Russia to ruin its relations with Armenia (and Central Asia, to a lesser extent) and then increase its own influence there at Russia's expense. Brilliant!

He admitted several times more Syrian refugees than Merkel did, so, maybe? But then again, Armenians are Christians whereas Turks are Muslims. And Turks have a rather problematic history with the Armenians, to put it mildly. Turks probably view Syrians more favorably since, unlike Armenians...

One would think that NATO would be pro-human rights, no? Though Turkey might use its veto power to block any NATO intervention, thus necessitating that such intervention be unilateral, similar to Iraq in 2003, with Bush's coalition of the willing. NATO cared a lot about Kosovo to militarily...

Anyway, what about this compromise deal? Armenia gives up some of its own territory in the south in exchange for Azerbaijan allowing Armenia to annex Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin Corridor?

Very sad what's happening to Armenia. :( It's quite interesting, though, that this isn't the first time that Armenians got burned as a result of their association with Russia. In the 1910s, Russia tried using Armenians as pawns against the Ottoman Empire, which in turn fueled Ottoman paranoia...

Take a look at this map: Without Great Power (Russian, Western, Chinese, and/or et cetera) protection, there's simply no way that N-K could actually be protected unless the border districts were also secured.

That didn't help Russia in its current war with Ukraine. Not yet, at least.

To be fair, though, it's not like N-K was easily defensible otherwise. At least, not without Great Power protection. And if one wants to be technical, one could perhaps argue that Armenia's support of N-K is itself a violation of international law because it's internationally recognized as...
