Another series of books I liked was the Raymond E Feist Midkemia books that started with the trilogy of Magician, Silverthorn and A Darkness at Sethanon. There were further books in the worlds that were stand alone like Prince of the Blood and Kings Buccaneer which retained their enjoyment...

I preferred the Polgara book to the Belgarath one. Part of the Polgara one details her time with the Wacite Arends which is mentioned a fair few times previously.

I enjoyed David Gemmells books, especially the Drenai series and the Lion of Macedon/Dark Prince duology. Also a shout out for Eddings series mentioned above, the standalone Redemption of Althalus was decent but I couldn't get into the Elder God's series.
