I'm not saying that Bezos should fly one of his rockets into their HQ. But it's sooo difficult to pilot a spacecraft once it gets locked into a flight-path, no?
That was the one where the dark side of the moon was supposed to be inspected, right? Maybe that mission left a collective trauma on the collective conciousness of Humanity. "Don't venture out too far, or your ship will explode"?
Come to think of it, what was the furthest a human being was away from Earth? The Moon, probably, because I don't recall any mentions of astronauts spending time beyond that orbit.
It's weird how confined to Earth's gravity well we are...
The development and deployment of such an organization is a necessity if we want to explore and colonize space. But "space trash men" isn't as sexy as being an astronaut, so people either don't focus on it or they don't know about it because of the former.
That's a dumb argument. It's in the same vein as "We should first fix EVERY bad thing on Earth before we try to colonize Space!" and then withdrawing all funding for space-agencies. Just because of a few flaws, we are supposed to stay all on Earth forever?
Fuck that.
