    Tanks haven't been a big presence in recent fighting because most of it's happening in southern Ukraine, which is the most heavily mined region on the planet.     Slight correction: The forces currently threatening Kiev came in through Belarus, putting them only 100km away when hostilities began. Still impressive, but it's less than a 2 hour drive. Most tanks could travel that distance and back again and have fuel to spare. They also didn't mobilise...
