Overkill, but then again, the Philippines isn't known for upholding morals that well.

This actually makes sense, but which foreign power would benefit from this? Federalism would be a good thing, if a hostile power won’t take advantage of it.

Yeah, by then we'd become a quasi-colony of China.

This means more pro-China policies. That's gonna go well with the majority of the Filipinos who harbor a great deal of distrust towards the Chinese government.

Yikes. That's going to end up really bad for the Philippines, which would now rely more on Chinese investment in the country, thereby hooking us all up to China.

I get the feeling that we might see more of the same policies of Duterte in BBM.

No clue about Hontiveros, but I am starting to be a bit weary about Marcos Jr. since he might continue Duterte's pro-China policy, while Robredo might shackle the Philippines to the US, something that has raised the issue time and time again.

Bongbong would be the most pro-China candidate, Leni Robredo would be the most anti-China candidate, and Isko Moreno would be the centrist. However, I wouldn't trust all three of them to run the country if it meant we'd inevitably become puppets once again.

Apparently a few days ago Bacolod City was engulfed in pink, because the Catholic clergy there started to simp for Leni Robredo.

The only thing I'm hoping for is a Presidential candidate that would be consistent with foreign and domestic policy that actually makes sense and is practical. Duterte, for all his efforts at developing an 'independent' foreign policy, has made the Philippines a bit too close to Russia and...

Yeah, but Jesse's death was used by Leni supporters and anti-BBM people alike to propel Leni into the Vice Presidency. Although after 30 plus years of Liberal and bits of Nationalist rule in the Philippines, followed by 6 years of Duterte, I'm a bit more weary of another Marcos presidency. My...

I wonder what's the probability of us in the Philippines going "not my President!" if Bongbong Marcos wins the Presidency. Pretty low, since widows are the Marcos family's greatest bane. Just look at Cory Aquino and Leni Robredo. They lost their husbands, and they used that to their advantage...
