B5 always felt a little like Mass Effect in that civilization is anchored to specific points to a large degree. Relays constrain things much more in ME, but expanding the Jump Gate network is NOT a small endeavor. It was doable, but I only ever saw the EA mentioned as making an effort at it in B5.

There's no need. The weaponry deployed on B5 ships is quite capable of rendering planets uninhabitable. Will need more than one shot, but there you go.

Only issue I have with nBSG vs B5 is of the B5 Weaponry. Neutron lasers and other advanced energy weapons will tear a Battlestar apart. I don't even want to think of what a squadron of White Stars or the like would do to them. Battlestar would never be able to bring their heavy guns to bear and...

I just went through the ships there. Good lord, he's WAY overdoing the size of those ships. The USS JFK Carrier displaces only 100k tons. The EFNI Vigilante, an Escort vessel, displaces 10.8 MILLION tons. Frankly, that's ridiculous.

My biggest problem with the Human ME ships is the exposed engines. NOT something the Earth Alliance would do in B5 'Verse.

Not so. In this AU, the EA will have gravitic tech. So their smaller escort, like the Hermes, would be easily upgraded to make it a more efficient long term escort than a Heavy Cruiser. Though, in real world terms, a Light/Fast Cruiser is likely the best platform for Escort duties. Large...

Well, in the case of expanding your merchant fleet, I'd also rapidly build up the smaller escort ships AND use them as test beds for military hardware...though you risk getting said hardware taken by a heavy raiding force IF they can disable said escort.

So what if you spend that heavily. Everything you build is still just going to play 'target' for Minbari Neutron lasers and their Stealth tech makes you impotent. THAT is one of the big reasons it didn't happen that way in they show. Earth found themselves laughably outclassed. EDIT: IF...

Umm...you did watch the show right? Minbari and Human souls were merging/exchanging and points to a mingled purpose, not one above the other. Sure, a lot were portrayed as extremely arrogant. So are a lot of the humans we see portrayed. However, we get a MUCH smaller sample size of Minbari...
