No. Just no. The government does not get this power. Ever. Because no matter how noble your intent, some idiot/jackass/power hungry/know-it-all/mustache twirling villain will use it for evil. There's no if's in that. IT WILL HAPPEN. The government needs be handcuffed again, not empowered.

The push by government to get EVERYONE into a degree program has really hurt a lot of the fields. Degrees no longer are a difference maker in the application process, except that it allows an employer to say, "You're overqualified for this position, but we thank you for your interest."

I'm not arguing that it won't help cover costs. My concern is that it won't stop there, no matter how pure the motives of the people who put it in place. After they go away the vultures, charlatans and snake-oil salesman step up to ruin the nice thing. How do you propose keeping that from...

I've addressed my error. If you can actually get the politicians to even contemplate that you're a miracle worker. Though I still say it's a mistake to empower every citizen to be able to vote themselves more money. I completely agree that the regulatory burden is pretty damn stupid...

I think my basic problem with a UBI is that you then create something whereby people can literally vote themselves more money. And I can't think of a single political party that's not going to start fighting over who can give the 'people' the most money with their platform. THEN you're going...

It's not 1 single charity. It's ALL OF THEM. Every single food pantry, every single church, every single soup kitchen, every single clothing donation, every single charitable person...frankly, Welfare, foodstamps, WIC and the like can't hold a candle to that when it comes to truly meaningful...

I get that you're looking for answers, but taking this hypothetical is really a worthless endeavor. It's like trying to predict the weather 100 years out. There are too many variables for any answer to have real meaning to us now. Work is valuable if someone is willing to pay you for it. If...
