Use your head. That pipeline was a source of both foreign revenue and diplomatic/economic leverage for the Russians. What would they gain by blowing it up? That pipeline was source of gas cheaper than they could get elsewhere for the Germans. What would they gain from blowing it up? But for...

I think we knew all along that it was the Americans. Motive, means, opportunity. Never made a lick of sense for it to be the Russians.

I think you've answered your own question - Germany's problem is the greens there. They could have clean and safe nuclear powerplants heating everyone's houses in winter with electric power too cheap to meter - but first they'd have to silence the greenies.

They will probably try to blame it on Russia though.
