I think you're confusing them with Warframes. Guardians aren't Kleptomaniacs, well maybe some of the Hunters are but actual in universe they're familiar with dangerous corrupting artifacts and have learned to be careful around them after the whole Thorn fiasco. The Crown of Sorrow for example...
