When it was initially released, I'd agree that it fell behind vanilla Warband in features; however, in its present state it's actually got a bit more than Vanilla Warband. And yeah, it's lacking in the full conversion mods that Warband has (I am fond of those fantasy conversions you mentioned)...

It has a niche that no other games really fill, and lots of mods that can address the worst issues. Unlike so many other "sandbox RPGs" (which are really "theme park sandboxes", it truly is a sandbox where you can pretty much do anything you want to within the confines of its world.
