    The problem with crossing down the mountains is that you need to cross down the mountains. Mountains are not just some imaginary map feature, they are real and moving stuff up and down the mountains sucks ass, there is a reason why they are considered defensive factor multiplayer.

    There is a reason why both sides are content with border skirmishes, mountains are a terrible place for a large scale conflict, unless opposing force is led by an utter idiot (Conrad von Hotzendorf, Enver Pasha, Luigi Cadorna) pushing through is just not worth it and both sides know it.

    Tankers can take longer routes and unless Indian navy goes tanker hunting against neutral shipping all over the globe it will merely increase the fuel prices for China, though that will be bad for their economy.
