    Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

I admit I'm usually bearish on these things, but I think people being directly threatened into silence regarding anything they had that was major or systemic is unlikely. I think after Biden was seated any major win on any election related lawsuit went from very to astronomically unlikely. Even...

    Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

The vote count starting the day of and the first votes being counted being disproportionately mail ins aren't contradictory. IIRC as it was happening Arizona was initially blue enough that Fox called it prematurely due to mail in ballots, even though even official numbers were fairly close at...

    Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

The question of land grants to soldiers was definitely a wedge between the soldiers and the republic, although I thought the decline of the citizen soldier ethos was more associated with the decline of the Empire. I think a big part of it was just that, well, if you're tramping around Gaul for a...

My understanding is he alleged errors in the vote totals, and procedural errors, but not that they were done intentionally or maliciously.

Maybe. Another factor with the Romans though was that from what I know, their army was more decentralized and personally loyal to specific generals than ours is. I don't think there are any Caesars among our generals. The closest might be Mattis, in terms of generals with the ability to win over...

You heard it here first, perjury is rare because there are a lot of people in the country! How is population size at all relevant? Wouldn't the only relevant number be the number of people or sworn statements that are investigated for perjury and either a guilty or not guilty verdict is reached?

No that's definitely a thing with some people, at least for the titles that aren't super long. I've known people who were insistent about it being "President Obama" and not just "Obama," "Speaker Pelosi" not "Pelosi" etc.

Not really applicable to Biden rn but it should definitely be done when the politician is out of office. They aren't titles of nobility.

I guess my point is that if you could see inside the head of...idk Weinstein, Polanski, Spacey, etc you would probably find that they all had orthodox liberal views on run of the mill issues like weakness on crime, immigration, or climate change. If you could look inside Joss Whedon's head...

I don't think this is true. Oh, I'm sure there are plenty of hypocrites and plenty of people their who think they need to tack left to appease the rest of the cancel crowd, and maybe at least a bit of it is performative for all of them, but there's a lot of it that is actually true sincere...

    Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

Trump's cabinet and staff have been mostly establishment types, it's been his most serious flaw, and a Goldman Sachs banker isn't exactly the exception. It ended up being a PR move for Democrats only because the establishment GOP was stupid in a way I think only the establishment GOP could have...

    Election 2020 Election 2020: It's (almost) over! (maybe...possibly...ahh who are we kidding, it's 2020!)

$2000 checks was a great PR move that basically everyone was in favor of. The GOP senate could and should have capitalized on by delivering as soon as possible. Narrative should have been that Pelosi stopped checks from coming earlier to deny Trump a boost for the election. Instead McConnell...
