United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

The fact that you see politics as a haggle or a negotiation makes you more optimistic than me.

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

Are we talking Born citizens only or do legal imigrints count. Frankly I'm ok with the later. The former opens the floodgates of "How far do we go back to decide if someone is a natural born citizen? do we go with "Born on American Soil" or do you have to trace it back to before the 19th century?"

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

You're not wrong but my point is I think this whole thing about Squatter's Rights is a distraction, The old political tatic of avert people eyes from a greater problem by pointing out a smaller problem. The People: "Our taxes our through the roof, mortgages are almost impossible to pay and...

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

All I can tell you is what my experience things have been and what my experience is that when it comes to property Squatters are low on the list of who can and will mess you over Unless you live in some big mega-city in which case my question is...what the heck are you doing in a mega city. BUT...

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

I don't let it get that far in the first place. I live in the middle of suburbia and I have dogs who's bark will scare just about any random stranger away.

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

Personally, I'm more concerned about taxes than I am with squatters right now. But then again I'm not part of the landowning class. i've only got one home and I don't leave it for a significant length of time. (A week at most) mortgages are killing my family more than squatters.

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

Honestly, a working/middle-class family inheriting a rich uncle's house four states over rarely happens, and when it does, FAMILY tends to cause more issues than squatters do, when random family members come out of the woodwork and threaten to take the inheritor to court. Not to mention bam...

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

The only reason why I don't buy might makes right is it's only every used by the offending party to excuse their actions. As soon as the tables turn they appeal to concepts like justice Mercy and fairness. Nobody just goes quietly in the night no matter how much they themselves preach that...

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

I think what he's asking is if the Nazis (or in this case) the commies win, should the people not revolt? "Legitimacy" be darned?

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

Then by that definition the Right has been making the lefts argument for the past five to ten years now. Heck some of the right wing arguments of today WERE the left wing arguments of 5, years ago. Suddenly cultural appropriation, racial miscasting in media, and historical inaccuracies In...

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

This, and let's not forget that a lot of the problems America has going on right now. Come from tactics OUR government used on a lot of these other nations during the cold war. Example: the Fentanyl epidemic.

United States Why are "squatter's rights" a thing?

I know with IP laws (Mainly digital goods) abandonment is a thing, Where if something is not claimed and/or where copyrights is not removed it's pretty much understood to be fair game. Not sure if a similar principle exists with Actual property though. but I would love for thier to be a...
