Ranged tactics are used a lot by Warhammer dwarves. I should find some excerpts from the novels. The fortifications of the Karak are pretty impressive, both pre- and post-gunpowder. There's a focus of melee of course, as there's a lot of mining and unlike some fantasy Dwarfs, ones in Warhammer...
