The Deathworlds Ranking Index. Great Places to Visit But Would You Want to Live There?

In my humble opinion in accordance with the OP. Blame the Greens and EnviroWeenies who don't want us to eradicate the native hostile flora and fauna on a biblical scale or endanger Catachans only worthwhile export by burning too much!

This discussion is my Deathworld. 10: Hospitality 10: Sustainability 10: Inconvenience

So if your Space Opera Civilization is super Gay or a Matriarchy or has a lot of Space Amazons the numerical rating would be reversed. Interesting.

The Deathworlds Ranking Index. Great Places to Visit But Would You Want to Live There?

Doing my own rankings to start off and I left out the submitted worlds for the most part simply because I'm not familiar with them. Generally the lower the number in categories, the more suitable for attempts to colonize. Without further ado... and again, lower numbers are better for...

The Imperium could destroy Catachan if they wanted but it there's no reason to because it's primary export is Jungle Fighters. Not like there's unobtainium to be mined if you scourge the vegetation clean.

The Deathworlds Ranking Index. Great Places to Visit But Would You Want to Live There?

So yeah this is the (undoubtedly simplistic) metric I was going to use to judge a Deathworlds desirability for conquest and co-option into the Space Empire. Maybe we could just rank the Deathworlds we have knowledge of on each of these criteria. I'm sure once we get some ratings on the board...

The Deathworlds Ranking Index. Great Places to Visit But Would You Want to Live There?

The whole Krieg thing is pretty off topic anyways. I don't personally consider it a Deathworld. Most Warhammer sources AFAIK don't even consider it a Deathworld as much as a Dead world. I could be wrong... but if that's not the case, it'd expand the definition of Death World to an egregious degree.

If you actually read the OP, you'll see that Dayglow is a compilation of the worst bits of the Falloutverse. ;) No gayass New California Republic or Commonwealth or other tamed civilized lands here. It's all bad! I did the same with the Skull Island, Warhammer Fantasy and post-Apocalyptic...

The Deathworlds Ranking Index. Great Places to Visit But Would You Want to Live There?

There's typically a pretty big difference between inhospitable worlds and deathworlds. Planet Earth in the Dredd comics is inhospitable but Humanity still "thrives" in the MegaCities there. Likewise the Moon or Mars is inhospitable to life but just because going outside unprotected will kill...

The Deathworlds Ranking Index. Great Places to Visit But Would You Want to Live There?

Updated the Index with the planets... linked to the posts that they were submitted by for extra information on the novels. I feel like Warhammer 40K and Battletech are known well enough here that extra information might not need to be hyperlinked. Still gotta hash out the ranking systems... a...

The Deathworlds Ranking Index. Great Places to Visit But Would You Want to Live There?

Greetings Admiral. You've been given a Royal Charter to begin colonization efforts upon a peaceful, uninteresting, and most importantly unspoiled part of space. For some reason the ancient colonies and fresh verdant worlds in these areas haven't been properly colonized or contact established...
