With him being an addict, I'm pretty sure the drugs messed up his brain. And of course he lives in a bubble that he/they are untouchable. Do you really think it's more likely he hates what he's doing and/or him being remorseful than him being neglectful?

It still seems more likely that he forgot about it. People like him tend to be neglectful.

It's more likely that he was neglectful or like I said in my post that he probably forgot it rather than being half-heartedly repentant. I don't deny that he can be. I'm just not seeing it. Is there any indication that he's really repentant?

It's been established that his family is screwed up. I just doubt that he'd be repentant. He's been an addict for a long times and has committed/been an accessory to heinous crimes. Maybe this is divine intervention for his and his family's victims.

I doubt he has remorse or fear. His addict's mind is so messed up, he probably just forgot it.
