It is a monstrosity designed by comity to some truly bad requirements.

Ballistic launch systems have been advocated for a long time. There have just been engineering problems with making things accelerate that much in a short enough time to fit in something you can actually build.

I'm pretty sure there are laws against that. I hope Bezos sues.

There is only one hurdle in spaceflight: MASS. Any problem can be solved as long as you have enough mass. Radiation is a matter of having literally anything in between you and the radiation source, though some materials like water work slightly better. Gravity can be simulated through spin...

Steel really is a super-material that most people don't appreciate as much as they should. It can be made into alloys with an incredible range of properties with only a small amount of additives and heat treatment.

That is what bleeding edge rockets do. Space-X abusively tests their rockets early on and because of that they get to define the next generation of rocket technology. They have already done it once and they will do it again.

The term biofuel is utterly meaningless. There is no difference between sourcing it from bio-fuel production lines or oil refining lines other than cost. Unless it is ethanol fuel, then you are using an inferior fuel in order to subsidize corn farmers.

Honestly you would need to set up a mars colony as a legislatively independent city state, regulations made for earth are incompatible with regulations needed for a space colony. There are also is a very distinct possibility on very stupid tax enforcement decisions that could sink the mission...

That is worse than most news headlines. A gas that doesn't survive in an oxygen rich atmosphere being spotted on Venus does not imply life on mars. Nor Venus really. All phosphene implies is hot phosphorous near a source of hydrogen.

I think they will want more cargo capacity with a moon colony being a goal. Alternatively a dedicated cargo lander.
