Sci-Fi Tech Combat Armor Aesthetics and Utility In Fallout and Science Fiction

The new version annoyingly changed the power armor to mechs. I don't know why they did that but whatever.

I've always thought melee in settings where guns exist is retarded. Melee combat is cool and all but some idiot with a sword is going to die against the guy with a gun 999/1000 of the time.

Sci-Fi Tech Combat Armor Aesthetics and Utility In Fallout and Science Fiction

Not exactly scifi but this is the kind of makeshift armor I'd like to see in fallout.

HR and the OG game specifically but not the super city shit. That said I do like the Templar power armor.

From what I remember I think the ranger patrol armor was suppose to be combat armor. It would have been carried over but time crunch forced obsidian to reuse assets.

I've always liked the stuff in Deus Ex aesthetically, it's the right amount of grounded and scifi imo

It does provide protection but the Combine could no doubt do a lot better if they cared. But turning humans into hunters seems to be their main goal.
  8. Carrot of Truth

Sci-Fi Tech Combat Armor Aesthetics and Utility In Fallout and Science Fiction

Eh those guys aren't really even human anymore the armor is more to just hide the horrors of what the Combine does rather than protection.

They do have a lot of really advanced tech in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. verse, something to do with discoveries made in the exclusion zone from what I recall.

Think that's in stalker Always found Deus Ex to be one of the more grounded setting but I could also see us having a lot of stuff in it 50 to 60 years from now.

Because shoulders and shins are the most vulnerable parts of a human body. Hands too apparently, 40k has always had some weird proportions.

I have always liked the exosuits from Deus Ex MD the Templar power armor in Deus Ex invisible war were also cool back in the day but those graphics aged badly. Clearly an exosuit although the crotch is alarmingly unprotected. The bigger exosuit not a fan of the feet since they look weird...

I always like the power armor from LOTGH although them engaging in melee combat is pretty stupid.

An AI like Cortana could probably manage entire divisions of robots, kind of like how the monitors controlled all the sentinels.

I believe the UNSC has all the necessary technology for pure robot armies. Although I could imagine a lot of good in universe arguments against doing that. Well before the war with the covenant went south anyways.

I've always thought spartan armor should be like the crysis nanosuit with armored plates ontop then the regular soldier should use more traditional style exosuits. There is a lot of shit about Halo tech that's dumb for instance why aren't they using EMGs instead of gunpowder weapons.

Sci-Fi Tech Combat Armor Aesthetics and Utility In Fallout and Science Fiction

The idea was to give some protection to the arms and legs without it being super cumbersome. All sorts of research from the sandbox showed that most soldiers would forgo wearing the additional armor parts and stick with the bare minimum because of weight.

That's what I always what I thought Spartan armor should have looked like imo.

Kevlar clothing already exists and has existed since like the 90s, the presidents of the United States suit is made out of it.
  20. Carrot of Truth

Sci-Fi Tech Combat Armor Aesthetics and Utility In Fallout and Science Fiction

I'm not sure what it's called now. From recall the army was investing in some sort of Kevlar clothing that was like underarmor because no one wanted to carry all that extra crap and wouldn't use it.
