Except for the actress playing Faye, anyway. No, fans are attacking it for specific reasons, and at least in the reviews I've seen, they'll give you those specific reasons and explain why it upsets them, and I happen to agree with them. Changes were made which fundamentally alter characters...

Not only did Faye remark on it at the end of the first episode she joined the crew in, she constantly referred to herself in the feminine, such as calling herself a cowgirl. Even the article you linked to admits that before its author just bulldozed right on ahead with their assertion anyway.

It's pretty obvious in the anime that she was a girl and saw herself as such. I will again find some dark humor in the fact that the creators of the live action show looked at this intelligent super-hacker, and apparently found this role to be unsuitable for a girl. 'Progressive' indeed.

Considering the "woke" mentality, I have zero doubt that since the actor identifies themselves as "they/them" that Ed is also a "they/them."

Oh, so they couldn't stomach the idea that the world's greatest hacker was a girl and had to turn her into a boy? How "progressive" of them. :sneaky:

Or just not making a live-action version of Cowboy Bebop instead of whining about how you can't so something from it as an excuse for changing something.

    Cowboy Bebop

If that's the case, it would be a good argument against doing a live-action version.

Of course. But it's shit like that and the shit over Faye's outfit that really gives me concern. It's kind of like the stuff with Tolkien's work where you have these people just ignoring what is actually there and obvious in order to do their own self-insert version of it.

The stuff I've seen so far as changes made to characters for no reason, complaining about fans who don't like these changes, and nothing which indicates that this will be any different from the pathetic attempt that was made with Death Note. In what way does having a live-action version of...

Yeah, it's almost like it would be completely pointless to make a live-action version of this show or something.

I would still rather they not made a live-action show out of this. Or any of the anime I actually liked for that matter. Let the woke assholes try to make one out of NGE for all I care.

I am planning on pretending this doesn't exist. I am leery of live-action adaptations of animated works in general and of anime in particular. Frankly I tend to find it insulting that they even try to make such adaptations, as I feel this only reinforces the idea that animated works cannot be...
