So I just watched a rather long video discussing Shutter Island and the theory that the main character actually is the genuine article, as is the case he is investigating, and that he was actually the victim of the very mental control experiments he suspected were taking place there in order to...
I only really like Pitch Black out of all of them. Riddick had some nice fan service from Katee Sackhoff (and could have used a bit more in all honesty ;) ), but that was about all it had going for it IMO.
Hey, if you're on a buying streak, I'd definitely recommend Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Dirty Pair, Outlaw Star, Desert Punk, Yukikaze, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, and The Big O.
My anime group is watching three shows at any given time. Currently, we're watching Lupin III, Part 2, Steins;Gate 0, and Moriarty: The Patriot.
Lupin is basically just a dumb, fun show, following the antics of a rather perverted gentleman thief and his cohorts as they go about stealing random...
The series is a bit better than the movie, but much less gory because it was basically a kid's show. Incidentally they were made by the same studio, with mostly the same people, and in the same time frame.

Best girl Kei IIRC. :D
As for my own anime watching, my group has finished with the OG Bubblegum Crisis and has moved on to Bubblegum Crash!, which thus far features a disappointing lack of nudity compared to the first one. On a semi-related note, I'm kind of sort of glad Iron Man didn't have...
One of my most favorite eye-roll-worthy scenes in this movie was the one where Keanu Reeves is getting all whiny and Dina Meyer acts like she's getting all turned on by it. And then there's the hilarious club sandwich rant. :D
The Aliens franchise was pretty influential on sci-fi in general, and anime was no exception. ;) Actually, there are a ton of sound effects from both Alien and Aliens used in a lot of '80s and '90s anime.
So my informal anime group has been watching the original Bubblegum Crisis, and also recently started Sleepy Princess. One of the other guys in the group has been whining the entire time about how boring he things Bubblegum Crisis is, while I've been enjoying how gloriously '80s it is, yet he...
