I'm curious as to why does Iran manufacture Russian/Soviet calibre ordnance. Did it ever import Soviet made artillery? Did it capture so many pieces from Iraq that local production was worthwhile?

@Marduk - I think that these are different items. AFAIK as I know the second set shows mortar shells - besides the stablising fins the shape of the body is IMO evidently different.

Dazzled by my own genius :) I did some checking and found that the Bushmaster 25mm and the 2A28 Grom do weight more or less the same - about 115-120kg. Look how much more space the 30mm cannon (admittedly much(?) more powerful than the Bushmaster) needs, hence I'd wager that a 73mm gun - IF...

I suppose the M2's are more useful "as given" then object of experiments. Also, there are not that many low MV and thus short recoil 75's about. Maybe a heavily damaged example - but in running condition - could end up mated with a 73mm jobbie from the BMP-1?

Very interesting video about the T90 versus M2 clash. The tank - as stated by the commentator - was "in a bad place" - alone, being hit by drones, and facing two IFVs. Damage led to the whole crew (IMO wisely) running away.
