That is canonical according the the Codex, but that's not quite what I was driving at. The point was that regardless of where the idea of spectres came from, institutions with spectre-like elements (in particular, all the bad elements of the service) were floating around and tolerated before the...

They're not 1 for 1 identical, but the parallels are hard to overlook. Per that per the codex, Justicars are "subtle where possible", so like spectres they can operate covertly. Justicars, just like spectres, are empowered to step above the law in the name of upholding some higher cause...

Spectres are basically just a slightly reworked verison of Asari Justicars, so even if they postdated the actual formation of the council by a fair bit, the overall concept predates not merely the citadel, but spaceflight.

I've never found that theory compelling, given that that it functionally boils down to "without external factors, the government that decided to enforce it's laws via unaccountable, barely monitored agents not bound by any law would make wise decisions."

Well, speaking of Halo, RTS franchise Command and Conquer did the reverse and made Renegade, a FPS set in the Tiberium setting.

You're not getting it. Relays are very advanced technology that is presently outside the grasp of the citadel races, but it is still just that, technology (and it's not that far out of their reach. The Protheans managed, and per Aethyta the asari could have tried to build their own relays)...

That's....not actually true. At all. Sovereign claims otherwise, but even ME 1 throws water on that. Indoctrination is the closest the reapers come to any sort of incomprehensible power, even still it falls short. Everyone's response to them doing it is "IDK how it works exactly, it's, like, EMF...

So, I saw an article reviewing ME2, and one bit jumped out at me. I cite the bolded bits because, contrary to the writers implications, the idea of a never ending tide of krogan overrunning the galaxy is not just rethotic, it factually happened, and mordin had more than just data, he had years...

You don't have to see her that way, but I disagree that it's a bad idea to blatantly push the idea that Miranda is very attractive. You are supposed to be commander Shepard, not the voices in commander Shepard's head that look at things from a completely viewpoint than he does. Having the game...

I never found Jacob annoying, but then I never really found him interesting or anything either, he was just there. Miranda at least had an interesting loyalty mission, Jacob was just dull. I'm with you on hating Jack, though I think Samara is the worst in my book. I think Wrex makes sense...

No, Thane didn't have 1:1 identical camera angles, but as the article explains, that's because he was designed to pander to women in a different way, not that he was designed to pander in a less blatant one. As for being annoying and unnecessary, that's a matter of taste, clearly other people...

I never cared for the Miranda, but the double standard in this case is a bit irritating. Thane was literally designed to be Mr Sexy and pander to the game's female playerbase, and that's totally fine and they won't change anything about him, but Miranda being designed as Ms Sexy is a serious...

Trailer's out. Legendary edition is stated to include a 4k remaster and all DLC. Legendary edition is not stated to include better controls, better stories, Jack swinging both ways, or space boobs.

ME3 "rescues" Jack by basically making her a completely different person, sharing only a character model with ME2 Jack, and then trying very hard to bring up as little of Jack's past as they can get away with. And frankly, Jack in ME3 is still not something I like, because it's such a...

No, She's absolutely edgy. She's messed up as well, but the edgy stuff is more prominent. And more annoying.

Frankly, I'd rather they not do that. Jack is already an obnoxious edgy pile of clichés, the fact that she's straight is pretty much the only thing that keeps her from being an outright parody of that sort of edgy deviants OC character archetype.

I don't think your core premise of "people liked mass effect for the setting" is true. People like Halo for the setting, or battletech, or 40k, or star trek, or star wars, which is why there's tons and tons of fan material set in those universes that has no connection to the main plot, and why...

Rejiggering the gameplay's an obvious choice, though as the ME series never had gameplay good enough that it served as any kind of real selling point, that's basically just making ME 1 not suck to play. Ditto with trimming the make-work side content. Nudity is a bit of a surprise, but I guess...

I'm not particularly inclined to get excited in general. Unless they, at minimum, completely rewrote and redesigned ME3 from the ground up (which they probably haven't), we're just going to get the same flawed story with a new coat of paint.

Liara ceasing to be the shadow broker sounds like a great idea, because having her become the shadow broker (or even any kind of information broker at all) was dumb.
