Honestly, I'm much more fond of the solution of allowing easy immigration from Taiwan for anybody (or any corporation) that manufactures chips, vs. a handout to chip manufacturers. Basically set up the US as the ideal place to run away to in case of an invasion.

A bad idea to spend money on this as well. I don't care if we buy semiconductors from Korea, that's a good thing that benefits both of our countries. Tax Chinese trade as much as you want, but free trade with allies is just a good idea.
