Amazon Prime Amazon Fallout series.

The GECK isn't just a cold fusion device in Fallout 3 though. In Fallout 3 its a full on genesis device that reshapes matter and turns barren wasteland into fertile earth.
It's a featuredthat's apparently always existed
INTRODUCTION TO THE G.E.C.K. The Garden of Eden Creation Kit (G.E.C.K.) is Vault-Tec's newest and most advanced survival technology. Developed by Doctor Stanislaus Braun, Director of Vault-Tec's Societal Preservation Program, the G.E.C.K. is a fully self-contained terraforming module capable of creating and sustaining life, even amid a desolate nuclear wasteland.

The G.E.C.K. includes a cold-fusion power generator rated to last at least 1000 years, matter-energy replicators, water purifiers, atmospheric chemical stabilizers, and seed and soil supplemementsIcon sic . Even in the event of total global annihilation, a properly functioning G.E.C.K. will create an earthly paradise.

Calling it just a cold fusion device doesn't really explain how cracked it is. Its as cracked as matter printers from FNV.
That's the point of it in the show, the unlimited use G.E.C.K is even more cracked than the matter printers in FNV.

In FO2 it was just a super farmer device that helped rebuild the wasteland. Not a full on terraformer device.
It's literally the same thing.
Stop bending over backwards just because Bethesda expanded what's included in the GECK.

I gotta be honest. I prefer Fallout 4 Ghoul's appearances. God damn was it uncomfortable looking at them in F3/FNV.
FO4 Ghouls are pussies compared to the OG's.

You normies!

One is a device that completely reshapes all matter around it.

The other is a device that gives you basic building blocks to help rebuild the wasteland by hand. Its in the image you posted.... like right there lmao
Yeah a single blurb mentions that and then it's expanded upon on later content, an addition not a revision the original stuff still exists.

New Vegas having matter replicators is Ok but a G.E.C.K that can do the same is too much lmafo?

Judging from how a lot of ghouls are just fine, despite being pre-war, it looks like some are destined to remain sane, while others turn eventually.
and to be fair, considering it is only mentioned in a small side-quest in Half-baked fallout 4 DLC, its canonicity is likley...anthropical at best, especially considering how we've seen Ghouls trapped in shelters for 200 years and they were just fine. Hey you could still argue that being a ghoul still stunk because while Vault dwellers got to live life underground while civilization rebuilt itself, ghouls had to do the heavy lifting and rebuild civilization while being attacked left and right because of how they looked. They had to suffer the growing pains.

Hmmmm? What about this lad?
Turned all ghoul when the war happened, still sane 200 years later.
Granted, like most ghouls his knees are all fucked up, even if he can still run for gameplay purposes.

"Expanded"

It doesn't matter to me though. I'm just pointing out the difference because its an obvious change.

Ngl I prefer the super GECK's. James(LW's father) even notes how bullshit they are. Sometimes I just like crazy shit.

Not a change an addition, and frankly the G.E.C.K in Fallout 2 didn't bother going too much into depth it was the later games that used it more often.

Can't really say Bethesda changed it when there wasn't really much to begin with in the first place. Like in the sum entirely of Fallout 2 you probably only have a single large paragraph regarding information or feats of it.

Bethesda did a fine job expanding upon it, a Cold Fusion reactor should do more than just produce seeds lol especially after what we see in New Vegas.

Basically Bethesda read the blurb of 'Garden of Eden Creation Kit' and in typical Todd Howard fashion went "Oh lmao that must surely mean a fucking Star-Trek Genesis device right?"

Hey if New Vegas gets Stack Trek matter replicators from a random ass casino then we get our Fallout 3 Garden of Eden's

😒

You do realize that adding something changes it, right?

Like I don't really care about the addition. Its just if someone said "the GECK from FO2" then I would understand. My argument was never about it being bad or anything. I just think they are separate versions. It's fair that Bethesda did more.

Yeah, case and point. Like I said The whole thing about Ghoul's going feral overtime was something that only played a part in a sidequest for the freaking Nuka-world DLC...it's canonicity is again at best questionable.

I am fine with ultra-wealthy insane scientist people inventing matter replicators that require a whole network and are stationary. But magic briefcases that act like the god damned Spore terraforming staff of life is beyond FO.

Ironically I have issues with matter replicators while I don't for GECKs.

I acknowledge that my take is a little out there in terms of "why though".

On technicality yes but in principal not really, for example the Constitution.

The Constitution's bill of rights still exist despite later amendments including more rights.

That's what happened to the G.E.C.K. it can still do everything it can in Fallout 2 and MORE, the more apart was just expanded years later which isn't a bad thing.

If someone has an incomplete story and another writer finishes it, it doesn't automatically become non canon.

Why would anyone specifically go out of their way to mention "The GECK from FO2" when the GECK has more prevalence in the latter games?

Just say the GECK from Fallout because narratively and by intent they're literally the same thing.

Feral Ghouls are mentioned in Fallout 3.
I believe the board game also mentions the more radiation a ghoul gets the "quicker" they go feral.

So it makes sense that some Ghouls can live longer than others without going Feral it just depends on the amount of rads they get over time.

A Ghoul from New Vegas where there is less radiation will have a easier time than one in the East Coast

Again. They aren't. One is ludicrously powerful while the other is a great boon for any post-war settlement.

I do actually agree here. I just like being precise about it because I know some people dislike the latest versions. Its just neuroticism on my part.
