Baen must be enjoying this, they're getting more publicity than they've gotten in what? Twenty years? This is the kind of attention that put Vox Day in the publishing world.

And if they actually sue, and win. Well icing on a hype cake.

There's a market for right wing authors right now and its in fairly high demand. If they're smart about this, it could go very well for them.

The real trick is getting them to out themselves before they get into positions of power. Or, the other risk, which is that already established leadership will essentially switch sides. This is mostly what happened in the sci-fi and anime cons that I'm aware of - leadership basically just fell for the old "sci-fi has always been progressive" line, or otherwise bought into what the regressive left is selling.

Yes. Sci-Fi Fandom draws heavily from the striver demographic, and will gravitate to the prestige viewpoints that they think will make them look higher status. If scientology was the status thing, many of these SF wokesters would sing the praises of Hubbard.

Facts do not cease to be facts just because they came from someone you don't like, and claiming that they were in the wrong because they were "high handed" is feels-over-reals BS. The facts remain that Kratman got ridiculously butthurt over the whole matter simply because he couldn't trump the factual argument by pulling the Marine Army veteran card.

The fact that you're doubling down on calling me names instead of engaging any of the actual points and whining that the discussion is off topic while continuing it . . . well, nothing to do with me.

I mean, it would have been hard for him to pull that considering everything I’ve found says Kratman was US army, not marines. Likewise arguing that early Abrams relied too much on over pressure instead of cabin filtration was a legit argument.

Correction accepted, but it doesn't actually change the overall point. It's very clear that Kratman's used to using his veterancy as an "I win" button in military debates, and became disproportionately bent out of shape at not being able to pull it in that argument.

Likewise arguing that early Abrams relied too much on over pressure instead of cabin filtration was a legit argument.

That part was a legit argument, but he took it off the deep end with the cray cray ammonia and aggressively doubled down against all evidence presented. Again, his final argument was that the smell of the ammonia would defeat the Marines, which is just. . . utterly unhinged.

Hey all, love the discussion...but the dystopia/utopia fiction argument might be a bit beyond the purview of this thread? That said, I can create a thread on Media Discussion to handle that?
