Piracy is a nope. If it was offered on youtube (or anywhere else) with permission (i.e. youtube's movies that are free with ads, public domain/creative commons license, a free screening from the rights holders, or someother licensing stuff), that's okay. So, for example, music from a youtube link is fine, as youtube has a whole system in place so that rightsholders still get paid.I have been meaning to ask @Abhorsen what's the policy of The Sietch on sharing movies that are available on Youtube and other platform similar to this but until now I completely forget it every time. I don't suppose you could elucidate further on the rules ?
That's a bit of a pickle for me. There are some movies on Youtube by some filmmakers and directors that have some movies publicly available but others don't. Example : Lucio Fulci; if you search it appears 4 movies are with copyright and you have to pay YT to see them...but others there's a playlist with various channels with his movies. If it's only on youtube because the owner hasn't gotten around to banning it, that's a different story. So a bootleg youtube stream of the NCAA championship done via filming a TV? Not okay.
The playlist is only fine if he (or a rights holder) released the playlist or own the channel. So random ass channels that just show a ton of movies owned by different people? probably not okay. That's a bit of a pickle for me. So I have no clue if it fits the category.
Lucio Fulci is the director of the movies and has been dead for 29 years if I recall correctly...so he does certainly doesn't hold them. And those movies available on YT both in English and Italian are being sold as far as I know, so they are not that "rare".The playlist is only fine if he (or a rights holder) released the playlist or own the channel. Based on what @Abhorsen has posted, the rules of the Sietch and my lack of the ability to manage to find who holds the copyright for certain movies I wanted to share here, for the time being I will post only Russian-produced movies from Mosfilm official channel, since they shared the movies and are copyright holders of the movies posted there.
