China Wuhan Virus Pandemic

Duke Nukem

Hail to the king baby
I want you to understand something.

I think COVID was overblown... is it bad? Sure. Is it as bad as you and others make it out to be? No.

We should stop the protests and the rates will go the fuck down and enforce masks!
Holdup didn't you say masks were useless a few months ago?

We already knew that from the leaks. If their own research and contact tracing documents list hundreds of thousands of confirmed locations that people were infected, then there were/are millions of people with it right now. Chinese age/health being what it is (aging population who survived the famine of the 80's, smokers, obesity in younger people) the fatality rate will be much higher than in most other countries of similar economic development.
You forgot lungs wrecked by growing up breathing 200. + PPM air.

30k in one city. There’s no telling how many have died throughout the rest of the country, but if I had to guess, it’s probably into six digits at the minimum by now.

There was an article back when Wuhan had just reopened that claimed crematories there had had up to 43,000 additional urns sent to people. So I'd say that 30k might be slightly understating the deaths. As for six digits, you mean 100K? That's quite possible. 1 million would be too much, IMO.

I guess I stand alone in thinking we are all being played like a fiddle. In the US supposidly 130,000 people have died and that's asumming that all deaths are in fact 100% genuine covid. Spoilers I don't think that's the case at all. My dad works in the big city and he's been talking to me about how Gunshot wounds and Car Crash deaths are being called covid deaths, plus that's not including the fact that New york decided to take a stupid pill and treat covid patients in NURSING HOMES

Cuomo didn’t know coronavirus patients are being sent back to nursing homes

the death toll is tainted beyond any hope of salvaging the true numbers and it's still less than half to a tenth of what was originally projected for this time period. I don't trust anyone making the shots as far as I can throw them, not in the US and especially not in the EU. First they said it was causing brain damage and seizers then they walked back and said it caused lunge damage, now they are walking back again and saying it MIGHT cause bloodclots. Lie after lie after lie Sorry for the hot blood, I just recently watched a video and both it and people's reaction to it are making me sick to my stomach.

I've been saying this is overblown since shortly after it started spreading outside of China, and we started getting more reliable information about it.

Yes, the American people (and most of the world) have been played. And people will remember this.

This big scare is going to have very serious long-term cultural and political consequences.

I know man, I...I don't want to encourage violence, I really don't, but I think about the relationships, livelhoods, and spirits that have been destroyed as a result of this, and it makes my blood boil. The worse thing is, I don't think this is going to end.

The disease, or the lies, or the destruction of lives caused by the economic failure? Or all of the above? For the most part, it looks as though you actually agreed with LordsFire, as you both think that people will be very upset once the virus is eventually lifted.

the lies and ecnomic destruction. While I think the covid is bad enough, I think the reactionary damage is WAY worse.

Personally I think it's all of the above; there are those who seem to believe that because the regressive left has taken advantage of the situation, and tried to make the Corona Virus look even worse than it actually is, means it was never dangerous in the first place. That strikes me as a very narrow-minded point of view, because two things can actually be true at the same time, regardless of your politics; the Corona Virus can be both a serious threat, as well as a political tool of the regressive left to acquire more power.

There's no question that they've cause serious damage by manipulating a pandemic for political gain; but I think the worst of it is that so many seem to be convinced now that we should stop being concerned about the virus. Remember; not too long ago, I was considered a fool by some for saying that the protests were going to cause a second outbreak. I fear the politicization of the Corona Virus will continue to encourage people to not take the risks to their's and other's health seriously, and more will die because of their carelessness.

I think it's contagious I'm just not convinced it's that deadly. While there are exceptions to every rule, the overwhelming amount of people that are dying to this thing are people who suffer from severe comorbidity and/or elderly, in short, people who were on the downhill already. At the risk of sounding cold, I'm aware of the whole "If it was your loved one argument." But I have MY Own livelihood to worry about and This can't keep going on forever. I'm convinced at this point that everyone is going to inevitable catch it and your either going to survive or you won't. It may be sad and cruel but contrary to our Anthropomorphic Personification may tell us, Mother nature is not a benevolent mistress nor even a thinking one, and in all truth I think Our reaction to this virus has done far more damage then the virus itself ever could. Again let me remind everyone New york took a stupid pill and decided to treat covid people IN NURSING HOMES edit: and as pointed out by @Culsu politicians allowed looters to burn major cities.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe, but It's telling when it gets to the point when people like me get to the point they'd rather risk death by covid then risk the very real possibility of living the rest of thier lives like this

I agree that an endless lockdown is an untenable solution to the Corona Virus; but I'm seeing people who disdain even the most minimal of precautions to protect the venerable portions of the population. It's also important to recognize that we don't know how our immune system interacts with the Corona Virus yet. Sure, it's not usually deadly to someone presumably young and fit like yourself, but what happens if your body isn't able to easily develop an immunity to the virus? What if you catch it two, three, or even dozens of times in succession; what is that going to do to you, particularly over the long term?

I'm not saying that there are not other things to worry about in addition to the pandemic itself; the economy foremost among them. I'm just saying that ignoring the danger isn't going to make it go away, that you could be far less safe than you assume, and that there are things we can do to minimize the spread which don't require you to give up your livelihood. Wear a mask, wash your hands, avoid close contact, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces; these are not, I feel, too much to ask of you.

the only way mask work is if you don't touch them AT ALL the moment they get moister or you have to reposition them they become usless because not only does that protection become compromised, now you have to worry about bacteria gathering them, now try going 5-8 hours a day in the hot sun without so so much as needing to reposition your mask. It's impossible. Avoid contact, like social distance? Yeah like that's worked well for any number of business dealing with customers. Most people either chose to stay home because regulation has made economic transactions impractical and uncomfortable.

Business and people's livelihoods are being irreparably damaged because of the stuff going on and if it's as contagious and successive as you think it is then it's the ONLY virus of it's kind that's like that at that point your talking about a Super AIDS virus that spreads like the flu. in which case we're all dead anyway

you'll need to reread my whole comment. I hit the wrong button. Sorry.
Consider this my full reply then; I'm not saying it isn't inconvenient, I'm saying it isn't something we cannot learn to live with. I'll grant you that there are times when even those precautions become impossible to maintain; but they should be treated like the exceptions they are, and not the rule. There are many people who have managed to endure what is being asked of them without complaint, and such should be lauded; not denigrated or dismissed.

Like it or not, this is the hand that we have been dealt; our choices are to deal with the challenge reality has presented us with as it is, or pretend as if nothing has changed and go back to the way things were. Suffice to say, I've decided to go with the former; because the latter is just going to cause more suffering in the long run.

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.

Time to see how the campus students are taking it.
