Looks like World of Tanks is coming to Steam. I'll be honest, I assumed it was already on Steam but I guess it wasn't, which in hindsight makes sense. No dumb 'Mandela Effect' theorycrafting here. Anyhow now you can join the online armored warfare sensation that has already seen 160 million users registered via Steam. Go poke a tank!

Yeah, they added World of Warships to Steam back in 2017, but not World of Tanks. Unfortunately, just as with WoWS, having it on Steam requires a brand new user account. It won't wipe your existing account, but you can't retain your old progress and purchases.

What's the difference between the steam version and getting it from the horses mouth?

Well, the Steam version is rather more convenient since you don't have to install the separate, proprietary "Wargaming.net Game Center" client software to install and update the games.

Hm, that's weird, I figured it would have been on steam already. The mobile version is, and has been for several years. And honestly I think I prefer Blitz on PC, the smaller game size means individual skill is a lot more useful.

Also, Blitz is much more willing to do fun stuff like this:

And the community is more tolerant of that, whereas from what I've seen, the main game community is more likely to obsess over how the front armor on a swedish tank no one ever's heard of is properly angled at 65.8 degrees and the in game model only shows it at 65 degrees, and therefor the developers are guilty of anti-sweddish bias or something.

I used to love that game, but it got less and less fun to play. The TOG II* was one of my favorite tanks, but then they nerfed gun handling and that awesome 17 pounder became a lot less effective, and this coincided with people no longer fearing the TOG and seeing it mostly as an XP pinata, not to mention the appearance of more tanks that had giant doom cannons that could take half or more of your health in one shot.

Duke Nukem

Hail to the king baby

Some gameplay from a match I had.

Worth noting the World of Tanks YouTube Channel is pretty awesome as well, with The Chieftain (and others) creating loads of historical videos on the various tanks and doing detailed analysis of many of them.

A Sturmtiger line has been added to the Console version of the game.

They are going to add a VERY weird line for American tanks. Yah tanks iirc. Woerd ass turrets and extra tracks. As in, they can operate if they get tracked unless you hit the backup tracks.

Like how the BT series could drive without them, same with the CA Lorraine.

I really wanna meet the chieftain. He is a Nasty Girl in Texas and aperently has been to damn near every military museum in the USz at least large ones.
His own channel dives further into the history and the documents while his Wargamming one is more just the tanks

Anyone know if it is possible to get older versions of the game from a trusted source anywhere? I have a bunch of saved games, and I'd love to be able to watch them and maybe capture them using some other software to save as normal video files.
