"Woke" Franchises

Well the thing is Amazon has no shits to give. They are going low budget lowest common denominator to try and maximize the big cash cow they hopefully see. Given how long the story is I hope they cut it down......12 books was too many.

I dunno about that, but polish cosplayers who perform as kinghts certainly look better.
Literally everbody taking part in The Witcher School looks better.

I'm actually rather certain that show has quite a significant budget. But then again The Witcher cost Netflix 10 million per episode and for the life of it I can't see where that money went. For it didn't go into costumes or sets, that's for sure!

14 for the full series (11 if you don't count Sanderson's contribution).

You don't understand; bad costumes and sets can often cost more than good ones. Usually because studio politics prevent them from shopping around for anything better.

You know, I'm starting to see a potential silver lining in all of this; because eventually, once they've thoroughly corrupted and destroyed every single established franchise, they'll have nothing left to sell and the whole system will implode in on itself.
There's always going to be someone foolish enough to sell their franchise for quick cash or in good faith...

So Medieval Highschool Vampire drama when?

Or a period piece following the misadventures of a Roman Vampire?

while he is apparently a fan of the He-Man franchise and knows a lot about it, is also a regressive leftist activist first and foremost. I think they mostly hired him to sit in the director's chair, and use his image as a "fellow geek" to do PR for the show.
Part of the reason Fan's took umbrage is because it turned out Smith lied about that as well.

This is one of several instances he said he wasn't or isn't a fan. And later admitted in a interview he had "hate-watched" the series being older and thought it was for babies and they should be stabbing each other with swords.

I was looking at the Comedy aspect. Imagine a Roman Vampire with Blackadders personality trying to survive day to day. With the idiot Balderic and Hugh Lorry as the Emperor, he has mastered.

Hmm...so, Count Duckula is something for you.It is really funny.

Y'know, I recall an image which supposedly depicts the Four Horsemen as romans. However, the artist chose to draw these characters with very pale skin and pointy teeth, so I thought it was some Vampires: The Masquerade fanart. The artist was Stepan Alekseev.

There was a fourth image, but it's NSFW. If you want to see it, search Stepan Alekseev Horsemen or something like that.
Anyway, my idea would be these four vampires fucking around in the roman republic and having a jolly grand time. A mixture of The Hangover and a roman epic against Carthage.

Rocketeer is getting a Reboot. Not sure if it'll be darker, but it could potentially be Blacker.

The Return of Rocketeer will be written by the same writer behind Netflix's Jessica Jones and the television show Wayward Pines.

More notably, it will be produced by David and Jessica Oyelowo through the couple’s Yoruba Saxon Production Company. David Oyelowo is a very accomplished Black British Actor whose starred in films like Red Tails, Jack Reacher and Lincoln. His wife Jessica is a White actress and singer, so maybe that's where the Saxon bit from the company title comes from. :p

Anyways David is also in consideration for the lead role, supposedly as a veteran of the Tuskegee Airmen (a role David already had in Red Tails) who finds the whole Rocketeer gear and does stuff. Whether this will be related to the 1991 movie (such as perhaps a sequel or some such) remains unclear but it will be featuring on DISNEY PLUS!

Make the bad mouse stop.

Seriously. I don't care about anything else connected to it, because no matter the changes it's just going to be more nostalgia-bait nonsense that will do nothing original and have none of the charm of the original--none of the adventure-movie-ish serial tone*, and exist solely as a monetary bilking and attempt to inflate Disney+ (Ala Mulan).

*This I'm even more certain of because Jessica Jones was...not exactly a masterpiece. It functioned. I wouldn't trust meager competence to manage to recapture any element of the tone of the original...Hell, I wouldn't trust a talented writer to do it because trying to do it in the modern day would be even harder.

Rocketeer is a solid, fun movie. I watched the crap out of it on Betamax back in the day.
Let the past die rest in peace, Disney!

You knew that.I knew that. But Disney would do woke version anyway.Or...they do not destroyed King Lion with wokeeness,so maybe they spare Rockeeteer, too ?

First trailer for Amazon's Wheel of Time. Technically somewhat solid looking, but not really all that close to the source material, going by the looks of it. Vast ethnic diversity where there isn't that in the books (meeting new cultures is a big point of the books, and a pre-industrial lifestyle isn't known for the vast mobility of its people), Edmonsfield isn't looking all that close to the descriptions (no thatched roofs, too close to the mountains, the inn - if that's the building in the first shot - looks smaller than expected), Mat's ruby-hilted dagger looks sorta small, the Myrdraal look too inhuman... Honestly, I'm not holding my breath for this one. Maybe I'll revise my opinion once I can watch it on my desktop rather than my mobile, but I haven't been a fan of their choices for a while now.

Edit: whoever decided to post this under the trailer has my blessing.

The resident Britbong
Rand al'Thor is hardly in the trailer for his own bloody story (he doesn't even speak), whilst the female characters are given the limelight. You'd think we'd open with a conversation between Rand and his father, but nope, we jump straight to black-washed Egwene.

As a Witcher fan, I have a heavy sense of foreboding.

Edit: And a sense of deja vu, come to think of it.
