It's honestly pretty telling of the mindset of (and how they view anyone opposite of their beliefs) these morons that they think they can strip out what made a book popular and then expect the conservative audience to blindly just jump in for the resultant in-name-only product just because it has the same title.

To be fair, it's not exactly an uncommon approach to adaptation; tons of other works, both good and bad, have done the same thing, from Starship Troopers to Dragonball Evolution. The problem in this case arises from the fact that they're clearly doing this solely for ideological reasons.

Well, to be fair my understanding is that it was popular among liberals, not conservatives, as a book exploring those exotic trump voting apalacians.

Well, just saw main cast images for Amazon's LotR series, and seven out of the twenty are non-white. Non-white main cast in the actual LotR: zero. Because Tolkien intended it to be a pseudo Anglo-Saxon myth, something he felt was missing in England's narrative past.

But apparently that's also now one third multiracial or something. Well, one more series I'm looking forward to not watch.

You know, I suspect part of it is bait. They want the Tolkien fans to complain so as to generate media controversy about racism and whatever.

Best just not to take said bait. If Tolkien fans just...don’t watch or talk about the show the people who push this won’t get the reaction. Because the reaction is part of the goal, it’s intended to humiliate and stick a middle finger in the eye of the white audience.

(Then again that’s pretty much modern society-humiliating and attacking White people is the goal).

That said, I suspect the show will suck regardless and I don’t think it will be anything more than Shadows of Mordor style fanfiction just with a prime TV budget.

The only decent LotR products (besides the books, ofcourse) are John Howe's illustrations, the two Rankin Bass animated films, and Peter Jackson's Fellowship of the Ring, and the latter has significant issues. And I guess maybe LotRO (if you can tolerate how dated it is and the business model). Otherwise, it's all shallow stuff that milks the brand recognition, but is materialistic and completely misses the point of Tolkien's stuff. If Peter Jackson missed the point when making his films in 1999 (exception being FotR), then I have absolutely no faith for any other adaptations, let alone adaptations being produced by Hollywood.

Well, I guess Third Age was cool if you liked Final Fantasy X's battle system mixed with Peter Jackson LotR film aesthetics that make up a 6 hour long game that is almost all battles with no exploration and, a crappy story, and discount characters of the films, but that's still not good.

Oh good. I was always worried that the term blind playthroughs could be used to discriminate against the visually impaired. Here's to show myopia isn't just a physical impairment for many professional victims out there.

As you can see it's a super popular idea started by some obese disabled person looking for an imaginary problem on Twitter to solve.





Hopefully soon "Happy to See", Blind Date and the term "Mute Button" will also be removed for ableist connotations and because words cannot have multiple definitions.

And calling something a "first" play through. That's stupid. You can have a first play through and know about the game you dunces.

Huh? No. At no point does CJ bitch about being "discriminated" against, he rolls up his sleeves and starts living the american nightmare, where he becomes rich through shady and semi-legal means.

I suppose this could just as well go in the Star Wars thread, but it seems relevant here because this is an issue caused by the franchise being forced to go "woke."

There's a civil war at Lucasfilms between the Filoni faction and the Kennedy faction.
And it seems that the Kennedy camp is backed by the Disney execs, so if you have any hopes of Star Wars getting better, you might as well nip those ideas in the bud ASAP.
Star Wars is going downhill and the Lucasfilms civil war is the last final resistance by the real filmmakers against the leftist hordes at the gates of creativity.

A friend of mine backed the Technocracy Reloaded book for Mage the Ascension and recently let my view his backer copy.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't the mess of SJW bullshit that I got. Apparently the Technocratic Union views fighting global warming as their top priority, wants to stop right wing nationalism, and is trying to be more "inclusive" in all the ways that the left loves.

What's worse, while the section describing the Technocracy in America was waxing on about authoritarianism and nationalism, their section about China was nothing but praise for the situation there.

Leftist game developers have turned one of the coolest groups in fiction into a bunch of grievance students with ray guns. Another franchise gone woke.
