Exactly what is says! I got this idea after playing Streets of Rage 2 again and thought it would be something funny or just plain fun to talk about!

What would the game's plot be? Who would the main characters and villain's be? and how would you make it as fun and entertaining as possible?

Probably something along the lines of social media overlords trying to connect everyone into one big online database where they can dox and advertise at will.

The main character will be a small towner/farm boy who starts with bootlegged or homemade weapons while upgrading gear so by the end they're a walking Tom Clancy novel!

It only took a few months for this dystopian future to come closer and closer to reality. But yes Big Tech as the bad guy mixed into an incestuous relationship with a surveillance state government sounds like it'd be the main nemesis nowadays for a 90's style dystopic video game.

Did you have any other inspiration for frames of reference besides Streets of Rage 2? :)

The game would include countless political factions you can join, most opposing the tech illuminati, some supporting it, but due to development oversights I expect some skyrim-like situations where the player character is the leader of whatever expies of antifa, the triple k, and other extremist groups from today populate whatever part of the country this game takes place in, all at once. Your actions in the late game, if you complete the Boogaloo Bois faction quest chain, you can set off a civil war questline. If you join the military faction you can access "Sandbox" mode. A sanity mechanic would be included, alongside a reputation mechanic, both of which are impacted by social media. You can shill on reddit, 4chan, facebook and twitter to gain faction reputation, but possibly lose rep with other factions if you don't keep your accounts separate from faction to faction. You gain sanity by reading good news and watching entertaining content, and lose sanity by accumulating doomscroll points.

And that's just the U.S main game. The Europe, China and Japan DLC promise to bring even more fun.

A management simulator where you play as an alphabet agency spy manipulating a bunch of dissidents into very nearly staging terrorist attacks which you can foil in the nick of time, then use as an excuse to acquire more authority to deal with the threat. The game is extremely tricky, since you need maintain the fine balance between your patsies doing nothing and actually succeeding in their attacks. Plus, undercover reporters, who will turn you into the news story if you mistakenly try to encourage them to do terrorism.

I think we have a winner here. Really. This could be a great game.
