To be honest I don't see much of The Left here. That is why I hesitated. I personally am centrist-left coming from a moderate republican household.

I think the golden rule is "if you aren't a fucking idiot, you're welcome" which goes for all positions. What I found hilarious for example is that SB tried to pain all these guys as Nazis, when most of them are about as moderate as your folks probably are. From what I remember of most of their posts on SB I'll go out on a limb here and say @Guy of Z and I are way farther "down the right wing" than anyone else.

And as a general rule, neither of us care if you're left leaning. Only that you apply common sense to politics...For what its worth any way.

I'd argue I'm probably the furthest right-wing person here, but that's primarily because @The Name of Love has, in my view, a tint of bourgeoisie sensibility which is further to the left than being a strict aristocrat.

I can actually understand that, since I consider myself a moderate and can find common cause on that. But then and again we do probably have somewhat compatible philosophical bases. I am wondering if I am even right-wing myself, or come from a strand of philosophy that doesn't fit into that typology.

I am left-leaning centrist because I do not lean toward either extreme.

For instance I support the right to bear arms ... except I also would like universal background checks, mandatory gun safety classes. and something like a 'No-fly list' for guns. I'm well aware it won't stop Gun Violence entirely but I prefer the idea to mitigate the problems rather than accepting the downsides of having so many guns. Sadly the NRA began demonizing any measure of gun control.

I actually think you are right-wing, just in a very sensible way. And we do share a great many philosophical principles. At heart, I'm a neo-platonist and a constitutionalist before anything else.

Well, let's split that off to another thread, but from my point of view, that's a tactical measure because we don't trust the gun control people to negotiate in good faith; we think they're trying to "slice up the sausage" with incrementalism while their real goal is confiscation. So it's a war over the Overton Window to protect our sacred right.

I was about to say something much similar. That, even if there was a genuine attempt at gun control, there has been a gradual erosion of gun rights under the auspices of "reasonable compromise". Obviously not being an American I am going to have a different opinion of what gun rights are, but looking from the outside I can see this gradual erosion all the more apparently since I am not the frog being boiled...well not in that pot. I do believe there is grounds for reasonable gun control, but it would have to be done through a neutral third-party institute, and not the government.

aww sweet man! It'd be nice to not the dude on the farther side of aisle for once!
Let's compare notes!?

How do you feel about public sector Unions?

Do you think that the constitution should not apply to Democrats because they're essentially agents of a hostile foreign power?

What's your opinion on whether or not groups like the mermaids and other transgender activists should be considered international terrorists and be responded too accordingly? How do you feel about a general immigration ban for 25 years and laws that result in the instant revocation of citizenship and the seizure and forfeiture of property of any American, native born or not who is a member of a group like Antifa?

Do you think employees of social media companies and search engines and Government employees should automatically lose the franchise when they begin their term of employment and then regain the right to vote only after they've been out of said jobs and gainfully employed elsewhere?

I'm mostly being facetious here, since its not a competition and this isn't the place...but I'm genuinely intrigued at what your answers might be.

edit- to be clear "We're more right wing" than anyone, is a said tongue in cheek, the left thinks we're evil right wing dark wizards and some alt righters literally ran an op trying to prove the two of us were commie-Jewish spies. So it ain't exactly like I've got bragging rights to that title when the stupid neo-Pagan larpers on the alt right hate me more than they hate their own love for lady boys :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Its a matter of how one conducts oneself, the "air" or aurora one presents, at least I believe that's what Zoe is referring to.

Why 25 specifically? I'd personally support such a measure but I wonder how you chose 25 years?

Oh mostly because that's about how long it takes to raise another generation. Essentially we can use those 25 years to give us enough breathing room to assimilate the ones who are here and to restructure the laws to incentivize assimilation.

And to masa deport anyone who doesnt.

After that another decade of extremely controlled and merit oriented immigration would be good.

@The Name of Love by believing nothing except that which was regarded as sensible and normal before the French Revolution, to paraphrase a certain gentleman.
I mean, that’s a nice sentiment, but I don’t see how what I believe is particularly averse to that. Perhaps my Georgism would put off landed aristocrats, but I just want to prevent rampant land speculation and rent-seeking because I see it as akin to usury.

I was trying to have a gentle bit of fun about it; if there is any difference it's a matter of bare fractions on the inch.
