Who else dreads this year?

Oh wow, it looks like Jeff Sessions lost the Senate Primary in Alabama. Badly.

I think this poor, forced take from an NYT commentator is a good indicator of why he lost:

Sessions’s defeat makes a strong case that Trumpism is more about the man than the ideas. No one has been a bigger promoter of the ideas that Trump ran on than Jeff Sessions.
This wasn't about Sessions promoting anyone's ideas, it was about his questionable record as Attorney General. It seems like supporters of his latest run place so much emphasis on Sessions time in the Senate while leaving out (for the most part) what should've been the even more position of Attorney General. The most of heard was one claim that he "laid the groundwork" for things Barr took action on. Then there was another news site mentioning that Sessions appointed John Huber to oversee an investigation into Hillary Clinton and...yeah, still no definitive word on that one. I heard from a few places that it was closed, but I definitely feel like there wasn't nearly enough of a media blowback for a story supposedly that ended with "investigation into Hillary turns up empty" if that were really the case. Example: did Tucker mention it? I'm sure he would've launched into a 15-minute rant about how there's still no accountability in Washington. Breitbart might've head a bright-red headline on the front page saying something like "Hillary off the hook?". Something else is going on.
Part of this is on me for tuning out of all news for a long time from 2017-2018 because it was all bitchiness and noise, but from here it seems like he didn't do what people were expecting.
Here's a thread by Larry Schweikart with his view of what Sessions time amounted to:

Note that he mentions Kris Kobach was part of a Voter Fraud commission that supposedly withered on the vine. I bring this up because I remember Ann Coulter supposedly saying that her advice to Trump about hiring Kris Kobach went unmentioned (back before I realized she was just twisting the truth for clicks). Now I know the truth the Kobach WAS working for the administration, his work just didn't amount to much.

Followup: Sessions was willing to endorse Tuberville

I feel bad for Sessions. I don't think he truly meant to undermine Trump as AG, considering how graceful he's being right now. I think he was duped by the powers that be, and wanted to do good in the Senate again to make up for his....poor showing as AG. I don't think Doug Jones has a chance at all in November.

I feel kind of bad for him too but not really. He seems like an overall honourable Conservative chap, the same kind the Democrats have been running rings around for several years now. But President Trump needed a fighter in the role, someone willing to get bruised and take heat and run inteference in a new age of hyper-partisanship where most of the media is basically a propaganda arm for the opposition. Instead what he got was a nice bloke who thought that the 'old establishment' ways still applied and that the other side would be somewhat 'reasonable' when he unnecessarily recused himself. It was an unforced error that had serious consequences. Conservatives can't afford such nonsense at this time.

Twitter is a psionic device used to flatten individuals by presenting all identities in a completely sterile format, while limiting "user"'s capacity for thought by making it difficult to express complex concepts without arcane forms of "chatspeak" (such as creative use of digital hieroglyphics). As of today, several execusorceror had their verified accounts used by an unknown individual for bitcoin-based Nigerian Prince scams. A catastrophe and embarrassment of this size is the doom of such a service.
This is the best thing since Alex Jones.

What did Ice Cube mean by this? 🤔

To be fair he's right there is an epidemic of sucide in the white community and the worst numbers are for divorced men.

It however won't get attention because fixing it means fixing our broken family court system.

I’m guessing he’s got friends or relations who’ve had experience with this stuff

I think if the media and academia put attention to it, they’ll say that Feminism is FOR helping men because they’re victims of their own patriarchy and stuff

Yeah, heard that stuff in college

Writing from Colombia... I'm dreading 2022 tbh. Because I honestly see no way our vaguely right wing (actually centrist with soft market socialist economic policies sprinkled on top) government gets its act together before then...

I'll admit I'm on the cynic side of the spectrum, but I don't see how any left-wing government here doesn't devolve into a Cuban-backed dictatorship (Because they'll either have enough communists voting in a handful of cities to get re-elected, or rig the thing altogether for 2026). And from some reports, a large part of our Military's High Command is compromised by the Venezuelan govt...

I guess that, if worst comes to worst here, let's hope Trump gets re-elected heh.

EDIT: A Clarification, 2022 is an election year in Colombia (the pattern goes 2002-2006-2010-2014-2018-2022-2026-2030 and so on) The previous government (two-term 2010-2018 Santos govt) was... Eh, economically successful, and crap at most else, got a deal with FARC that is not really going anywhere with all the guerrillas that failed to demobilize and even a new armed FARC operating from Venezuela, and was succeeded by a government under the aegis of our former (2002-2010) president Uribe. This government might make it if the whole Covid thing is handled decently, but I fear that the re-opening came too soon, and it will be the knockout blow to any attempt by the so-called right wing to have power here.

I know I’m being sort of over optimistic here, but things like becoming dictatorships may take awhile

Hell, I doubt they may have the firepower to keep people in line and just keep on using “soft power” to keep control

Though if it gets to that point....honestly even whatever passes for the “Right” anywhere else in my opinion is too “soft”

Like a lion trying to avoid stepping on insects. Hesitant about actually trying to do anything

They didn't need the firepower in Venezuela, at least until it came to a breaking point, and by then they had it.

The thing in Colombia is that, with all the mess of our armed conflict, our civilian population disarmed en masse, and the likelyhood of our army trying to remove a duly elected government are infinitesimal

Honestly, I’m not sure what can be done, but try and get you and your family and friends out or at the very least aware as possible so they don’t end up getting caught in some future trap

The military aren’t their friends

Hell, I think the “Street Left” of your country maybe possibly more dangerous than those in the soft stupid white guy places.....they may be the only ones allowed to have the 2nd Amendment applied to them

We don't have any 2nd amendment equivalent in colombia. Hell, we don't even have a legally recognized right to self-defense!
My family will be hard to convince, but I'm waiting to see if... something happens once the pandemic comes to a halt. I won't reveal details, but there might be a way.

Okay, I wish you luck....honestly I never thought all that stuff regarding Communism or people being remotely paranoid about the Left would have ever born fruit a decade ago

With luck, some areas become redpilled enough that people end up having to think things as objectively as possible
