Guardians have hax compilation (Sort of a respect thread but only for their hax) - Gen. Discussion - Comic Vine (High End with a dash of Wank)

I feel like Guardians would thrive in the 40k verse. So let's say starting in current 40k all loyalist Spacemarines (Except Primaris) are replaced with Guardians. (Estimate of 35,000,000)

With the added perk that anyone in the Imperium can become a Guardian if they worship the Emperor and meet the following criteria/mantra
"Devotion inspires bravery, bravery leads to sacrifice, sacrifice leads to death."

And we'll go with the figure of 35,000,000 Guardians selected from a population of 7 billion so 0.5% Guardian creation rate for the Imperium population.

Now with these high production methods for serving the Emperor and treating him as equivalent to the traveler how does this change the setting?

Btw hand wave any moral issues they would normally have in the setting. (The Guardians will be like the Salamanders thematically)

You get the Horus Heresy on steroids.

Guardians, kleptomaniac man children that they are, aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed. They'll merrily fumble about with Chaos artefacts (because "loot") and legion after legion of them would fall to the Ruinous Powers.

Also, the Inquisition has a stroke.

I think you're confusing them with Warframes.

Guardians aren't Kleptomaniacs, well maybe some of the Hunters are but actual in universe they're familiar with dangerous corrupting artifacts and have learned to be careful around them after the whole Thorn fiasco.

The Crown of Sorrow for example is safely contained aboard the Helm despite it being impossible for the conventional forces of the Leviathan to contain.

Basically, almost anything would be better than Space Marines vs. chaos. As I've said before, there's no Chaos Tyranids, no Chaos Tau, no Chaos Necrons, no Chaos Orcs, and every human civilization we see has no problems with chaos up until they run into the Imperium. Meanwhile, you can't throw a rock without hitting yet another Chaos Marine or Chaos Cultist from the Imperium.

So the big question is whether the Imperium's tendency to spread chaos like leprosy is going to infect the Guardians, or whether they'll keep their own culture and shut chaos down in the Imperium. Replacing something as iconic and important as the Space Marines might actually give them enough leverage to do something about it.

There's also some question in my mind as to how they are going to affect daemons. Daemons basically can't be killed due to soul hax but the Guardians have special soul hax of their own and might be able to kill daemons anyway, which would be a massive game-changer.

I'm pretty confident, that the Guardians would laugh Chaos Corruption in the face tbh. They can no sell "Taking" which involves overpowering the will.

Taking is comparable to Corruption if not arguably better since it has a track record of infecting all types of enemies, and even the Darkness equivalent has failed to corrupt Guardians so far.

They might as well be Blanks to Chaos.

Most likely, but I'm questioning more how much the Imperium will manage to infect them with its own pro-chaos tendencies since they're now intertwined with it.

The way I see it, it's gonna be like the Dark Ages for the Guardians. They'll be spread out since there's no one dedicated planet they'll be coming from like Space Marines which is a con and pro.

Every planet with significant Guardsmen presence is going to be guaranteed to have Guardians created but it's going to be extremely difficult organizing them into large enough numbers (Legions) in a reasonable amount of time.

Until then I see them butting heads with Inquisitors and Commissars but losing authority to Guardians who become like Zavala or Saladin, the Guardians would acknowledge that the Imperium needs those figures but would probably prioritize in helping the little people which could result in less Chaos Influence.

Think about it, imagine a rando Guardsmen becoming a Guardian and having the power to help his family or home world people, they'd have that compassionate and probably deter people from worshipping Chaos.
