What do you think the US's policy towards Israel should be?

An independent Jerusalem city-state?
But who is going to support that solution in political and economic realms, without which it is impossible, and how many will consider that independence?
Either that or a unified Jerusalem ruled by a triumvirate of a Jew Christian and Muslim.
Reality called... Unfortunately Jerusalem is only 2% Christian, so doing that is unrealistic. Meanwhile what foreign country with enough pull to do that regardless, as stand-in for foreign Christian interest, with all the duties that would follow (namely sticking their dick in the grinder of security operations and their political fallout), would be both willing and able to do so?
Even local Muslim countries are reluctant to take such deals regarding their part on a larger scale than they already do (Jordan and Saudis, limited to holy sites only), even though they naturally have closer interests to that, despite the fact that Israelis would prefer such an arrangement too, as countries like Jordan and Egypt are generally more reliable and reasonable partners than PLO or Hamas. They know that doing so would by all chance involve a choice between getting into "on the ground" military-political conflict with the major local terrorist organizations, or acts of war against Israel.
