Remember old school SB? Remember how you could talk about anything under the sun and give an opinion that was controversial or not and not get infracted for it? Remember how you could just chat about anything? That's essentially what we have here. Now don't misunderstand, we DO have rules here. And they will be enforced. But those rules are much less restrictive.

But going by an old Joku comment I remember reading I'm gonna go with... "Lax about calling each other pussies" if I am interpreting that properly. They said something about thicker skin and such, so I assume old SB was a lot more blunt and less false fronts.
You mean to tell me having the no-no's leads to seeing a doctor!? Mein Gott.
As is expected, I just hope I won't be left grumbling at something that comes off as blatantly hypocritical or such, I've had enough of that on SB, SV and FiC.
Though, I hope I enjoy my stay here, it seems fun, even if it seems a bit quiet :v

Have fun, socialise, get into arguments, do creative stuff and don't worry too much about someone getting offended and reporting you. We have some basic rules, but as long as you aren't completely fucking retarded and can remember how normal human beings behave you'll be fine.

My mobile acted up. So 'infracted' was auto corrected to 'infected'.
But you' re essentially correct. Old School SB, in the times when the boards were still fairly small there was a sense of community. Not everyone agreed but you could argue your points passionately (and sometimes viciously) to make a point. You can talk politics, creative writing or whatever.

No, as long as you make it clear it's a joke, because we do ban advocacy for some things like the holocaust or cultural revolution.

Well, let me give you an example. We let a poster name themselves after Stalin and use Stalin's picture as their avatar even though we ban advocacy of Stalinism. He didn't advocate for Stalin, so we ignored the avatar and name.

If you want, it would be nice to hear more inputs as I'm not familiar with most of the users here. So more sides will help me know you lot better.
The way I see it, is that this is meant to be a largely open forum where people can discuss topics openly. And thusly, I want a wide range of views to facilitate this, because having an open forum isn't worth much if you don't have people who will challenge your beliefs. Or this is my understanding of the mission.
Well, as far as I know, The Sietch is, or at the very least supposed to be, a forum where opinions and arguments can freely be traded and discussed, wherever they cover politics, fiction, and science. For that to happen, we really hope that more people willing to tallk join our forum. While politics is currently a visited topic, I personally would love for the Athenaeum, the Sci-Fi and Fantasy discussion, and the Creative Writing subforums to see more love. But that's up to you where you prefer to post.
Juuust remember to read the rules, it makes things clearer as for what is acceptable here and what not.
