Battletech Welcome to the Jungle

Ah I love the smell of missile spam in the morning
Will CAC start developing refit kits for other Battlemechs and ASFs and does it have the excess capacity to produce them with their current production?
Once they have their new Battlemech line up and running I do believe the plan is to start cranking out as many Centurion ASF refit kits as fast as possible. Presumably Banshee refit kits will be made sometime in the future

When Weber was refitting the dropships he salvaged did he use standard Inner Sphere tech or did he upgrade them? Also, is Weber using the political capital from his recent victory to acquire more immediate access to additional material such as heavier ASF's, AFV, or other military gear?

Wait, when did he say that? I did ctrl-f on the last two updates, then ctrl-f on the last two pages in reader-mode, and didn't find it.

I parsed over the specific words, but he did say some fairly nasty things to Julia during their argument in Reward VI when he started venting all over her. I was mainly more implying than anything else, and it might come up when Speaker writes his apology.

Speaking of that, if you like the 4th Succession War, I highly recommend Heir to the Bruce quest on SB, especially since we just wrapped one of the most interesting retellings of the 4SW)
Will do and thank you, Speaker, and the other betas for this wonderful story.
For clarification sake did the unknown contacts leave the system yet or are they hanging out in space near Catachan?

First off, technically the Jaspers are now are in the 'second rank of nobility' on Catachan as those who own their own Mechs like Foehammer, Comet, etc
Actually, the Jaspers are the first permanent residents outside Alistair himself to own a ‘Mech on Catachan. Comet, for instance, owns enough shares in CAC that she could buy one, but hasn’t because selling her shares would be dumb. Some more are going to be awarded, but this one had to be first.

That’s next chapter.
I do expect that there is a -5S to -6S Thunderbolt refit kit in the works by Olivetti now that the design has proved itself.
It was in the works as soon as they had a product ready to sell. Momma Olivetti didn’t raise no dummy; the Duke knew that any Mech built with Lostech would sell like TVs on Black Friday.

A note, though: they will still be buying many of the components for it from CAC.

Next chapter~

The insult was implied, but strongly.

He didn’t salvage any Dropships, the ones that he’s using were sealed up but otherwise intact, and he didn’t want to blow the secret of his Lostech until he was ready. There will be some refitting going on now, though.

It was also already noted that one of his new perks is the ability to purchase from LCAF suppliers. Until it becomes more widely known that he’s got Lostech, though, he doesn’t have any particularly high priority. His first big purchase is going to be another Union CV, but that’s probably going to take a year or so unless he finds one at Discount Dan’s that he can have rebuilt.

They’re long gone. This happened weeks ago.
*Applause*
THUNDEROUS Applause.
Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week.

There is going to be more casualties as Harabequsiers will fight on through the years and I doubt that Weber will give a mech to the family of everyone who falls in combat, more likely is stipend and guaranteed place in Harabequsiers, unless they die in defense of the Duke, like Jasper did.
As I remember Levy is promised to eventually own the mech she is currently piloting, so reward for rendering a great service to the Catachan will also be in the cards.

True.

However, I'm looking at 2 different things, here. The reward mech here, is, in part, about setting the traditions of Catachan, as well as rewarding the family of the man who died saving his life.

I think he's going to give a mech to all the remaining people who lost a mech/ASF of their own in service to Webers Warriors. All those who were Owner Operators, will be rewarded for their loyalty. It's going to be a lot of money, but he can afford it. It's the right thing to do, as well.

Erm. There were no owner operators left in WW.

Those that managed to get out with their ‘Mech intact saw the trajectory of the company and skedaddled. Those who didn’t ... well, mostly they died or were captured and ransomed. Either way, that did not particularly endear them to the company so they didn’t stick around.

Huh.

I could have sworn......

Well, then, Word of God.

I mean, Richthofen, but ASF. And he’s still got his and it’s getting a complementary uptech.
Maybe the wording was unclear but earlier chapters implied that some dispossessed owner operators stuck around because they had no where else to go and took up astech positions.

So, is Comet going to be promoted to Colonel now that Alistair is Duke? Or is he going to stick it out as both CO of his own house unit and full time Duke instead of nominal CO and Duke?

Comet wouldn't appreciate it, I don't think.

No problem, it’s one of the hazards of such a long-running story. Early plot points can get muddled.
honestly though with how much those shares will end up being worth the original mechwarriors of the company will be able to buy their mechs when they retire as people with money tend to do in the Inner Sphere and still have a bunch of dough left over if they want to.

The original share holders of CAC have generational wealth if the company can survive the incoming raids. They beat off the military strikes, get the government founded and stable and they're looking at a Hesperus II situation no doubt about it. That is insane amounts of wealth just thirty years down the line.
