La Argentina was an enlarged and improved derivative of the Arethusa class with a considerable increase in firepower thanks to the adoption of triple turrets.

The Town class is her direct counterpart in Royal Navy service, an enlarged and improved successor to the Arethusa class with a considerable increase in firepower thanks to the adoption of triple turrets.
The Town class was too big and expensive to play the same main roles of the Leander and Arethusa classes(trade protection and foreign station service). La Argentina wasn't(it was getting a bit big for the role, though, which is why I feel that the equivalent of La Argentina must not be too big).

Except Arethusa and Leander didn't occupy the same role in the first place. The Arethusa class was a reduced size "trade route protection" cruiser, but the much larger Leander class was a full-fledged fleet cruiser. La Argentina is an enlarged Arethusa class but remains considerably smaller than the Leander class.

The Town class directly replaced the Leanders as fleet light cruisers, and also replaced the Arethusas because the "trade route protection" role was judged to have been a mistake; the Arethusas were used as fleet light cruisers for pretty much their entire careers, albeit painfully cramped and undergunned ones.

Ah I love the smell of missile spam in the morning
I mean if you look at the RN's own documents the dido class was kind of meant to do every one of those roles and it was largely using a modified artheusa hull

Congress Critters, Presidents and Cabinet members have a nasty habit of screwing simple things up.

Edit: On a side note I have met Mooch in real life. Though at the time we were both in line at the Navy Exchange snack bar getting Ice Cream at Navsta Roosevelt Roads.
I mean, what is the gist of the video.

Congress critter and bureaucrats have put people they like as ship names when they had no business having a ship named after them due to already settled ship Naming convention. As in to Congress Critters getting ships named after them. Carl Vinson and John C Stennis. Also Gabby Gifford. Among other things.

And basically from a political group that needs to be bribed to support their own armed forces instead of doing it out of actual patriotism or practicality.
I take it your not particularly familiar with who Carl Vinson was? Personally I'm also somewhat leary of ships named for politicians, but it's a wild misrepresentation to deacribe him that way. The man who came to be known as the "Father of the two ocean navy" was very much a supporter of the armed forces out of practicality and patriotism.

Albeit given the world we live in I doubt another ship will be named after him due to the whole him being racist AF

IIRC, wasn't Stennis too?
Stennis was an old school Democrat from Mississippi. He was as racist as it gets, not only "professionally" as a politician but also as a lawyer (he was the prosecutor in an infamous case involving illegal confessions coerced by outright torture, a practice he actively defended) and in his personal life -- he was notably pro-lynching, and almost certainly a card-carrying Klan member.

And yet the Clinton administration decided a carrier was worth naming after him vs any of the WWII carriers that had open name slots?
