Why? Not saying you're wrong, but I don't see any obvious reason to doubt.
It's because this is Brighton wear this is happening.

It's city gov is dysfunctional at the best of times, and is an ex-urb/suburb that is known locally for high domestic violence rates.

This whole park coming off as planned would be a miracle with the way the local gov operates, which is where my doubt originates.

Plus, looking at the renders of what they are planning it is only a vague reproduction of the ship that looks like it was slapped together by a total amateur with the prompt '4 turrets, a plane on one of them, two platform masts, and make it look vaguely ship shaped'. It's a playground version of the ship, not an actual replica.

I want to be clear, I like the idea of the replica in a park, I just do not think the municipality that is attempting this is the best location for it.

NAe São Paulo, the former French Navy Foch, also started its journey to Turkey, where she will be scrapped, this Thursday(August 4th).

Apparently thanks to Environmental Groups who disputed that there was more then ten tons of asbestos on board, they put pressure on Turkey to not scrap the vessel. So Turkey declined scrapping the ship for $1.8 million, the ship never passed the Straights of Gibralter and spent the past several months hanging out within international waters of the South Atlantic.... UNTIL NOW.

The Brazilian Navy sank it in the middle of the ocean. Now we'll never know how much asbestos was on board or whatever. Supposedly they couldn't even SINKEX it since it was unable to be towed anymore.

Yeah, the whole story was a clusterfuck.

Her sister USS Milwaukee also had an interesting career.

During her shakedown cruise she visited Sydney, Australia. She surveyed the Pacific with her depth-finding equipment and found a set of seamounts. In 1939 she found the deepest spot in the Atlantic: The Milwaukee Deep. 28,680ft.

In 1944 she was lent to the USSR and served as Murmansk until 1949.

Not a Warship but might as well be.

Dunno if it is true or not,but i read, that when it was made some japaneese captains of cyvilians ships reported it as real battleship who was running with 4-5 knots velocity.

Of course,in 1941 they knew what it was.
