The sad part is it seems they can't. a good prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. because the bar to charge someone is rather low. if they failed to convince the majority of the grand jury that there is enough evidence to charge orange man. this is a much lower bar and is happening in one of the bluest areas in the country.
edit: they also took an extra 2 days to try and do it. still failed. they don't do anything on friday or the weekend so they meet next monday.

Honestly this is one of the dumbest things they could have done, they just handed him the election. But then again those who suffer from TDS don't make good decisions.
I don't even really like Trump but even I admit this is a terrible idea, if he goes to prison he runs as a literal Eugene Debs and unlike him Trump actually has a lot of followers and popularity.
Literally if he runs it will only embolden his base as he claims persecution and has legitimate proof of it.
Meanwhile most dems probably wouldn't take his run seriously and won't get out to vote against him in mass convinced that the great Satan has been defeated.
