So Trump is basically going to create a National Garden somewhere and fill it with lots of statuary of famous people. One can only wonder if this was perhaps inspired by recent events...

Some times I forget that we elected an internet troll for president, and some times I wonder if that's a bad thing.

Internet Troll, when did Trump discover/use the internet? Because honestly, wouldn’t expect it from a senior citizen

I can see REEING about how hypocritical “conservatives” are for wanting “small government” and less taxes and government expenses/intervention but liking the military being funded

And now this “waste of taxpayers money” which they’d prefer to go to “reparations” instead

He was on twitter from the beginning if I recall. Remember he sells his brand so social media is a great tool for him.

remember computers today are much simpler than they were in the 80s now you don’t need to write code to get what you want, so it couldn’t be that hard.

Tried showing my mom how to use the internet, she still can't use it right and has hundreds of windows on her iPhone alone

She even hired someone to show her the basics and yet she still can't do it at all

You know, the one of the great things about this National Garden: not a Confederate to be seen in the mix, based off the current name list.

Hopefully it'll help send the message that the Lost Cause mythology around the Confederacy is not honored or respected by the nation at large.

Hmmm can we add FDR, John Marshall, Lewis and Clark(and Sacagawea),another dozen or so winners of the Medal of Honor, and say two or theee dozen other notable Americans to the list so that it truly shows the our nation's story and so it can't be accused of being politically biased. To be fair the list posted was the minimum number of people and by no means the maximum and thus I suspect it will grow over time

I think Lewis and Clark are already slated for it, though I agree about Sacagawea deserving to be in it.

MoH's are already eligible, based off what is in the documents. I think Aretha Franklin should be in there, if she isn't already.

Also, Balto should have a statue in their too.

Trump was in top form last night, and definitely rebuilt my confidence in him.
Also catered to the Evangelical vote quite a bit, from what little I saw. If they watched it, and were moved, that could be a huge win for him.

I do think that this garden is a fantastic counter to the rioters. It reminds me of a quote from Maddox "for every steak you don't eat, I'll eat two". Don't merely punish them for what they've done, make their efforts actively counter their goals.

Fermi, Oppenheimer? Some American or (naturalised American) scientist responsible for the USA becoming the first and premier nuclear power?

EVIL!!! PURE EVIL!!!

Nuclear Power is an abomination, the only stuff to be approved is stuff like solar power even if it’s not practical in certain areas

Also, nuclear bombs!!!

Yeah, give him a statue, it’ll piss off a bunch of douchebag hippies

Have Lee, and perhaps use him as a Satatue for those Americans lost fighting for the south, as they are still our brothers fighting for them. He can be the head with a plaque lasting other famous Confederrate Generals.

Gonna piss off the Far Left more than usual, then again they barely need actual proof to slander Trump and other non-FarLefties

Yeah the lack of scientists and Captains of Industry types in general is kinda frown inducing to me. Though I suppose it could depend on the definition of heroes or being heroic or whatever.

I'd probably put Norman Borlaug on my fanficy list. Plus there's dudes like Jonas Salk, Abel Wolman, John Enders etc.

I do like that Amelia Earhart made it and Charles Lindbergh doesn't. Still proves you have to reach a certain threshold of arbitrary palatability to be worth commemoration it seems.

Putting Joshua Chamberlain up there in lieu of a billion other Civil War figures is odd though. Ulysses S. Grant would be an obvious choice. Ambrose Burnside would be ironic too since he helped found the NRA which would be Boss. Joseph Wheeler and James Mosby would be nice picks as well for genuine symbolism and historicity and maximum troll.

Also give Lafayette and Von Steuben a statue. A Frenchman and Prussian who were crucial during the American Revolution and both were technically American citizens anyhow.
