Transgender Rights

Like I said, we should help those who are genuinely confused.

I'm not an expert, but I think gender dysphoria has neurological rather than psychological origins. Calling them "confused" comes off as unnecessarily condescending. But what can I expect from a second rate Ranger? 😉

This comes fresh off the heels of the "transgender woman handcuffed by police for trying to enter a female bathroom" incident in the Philippines.

It's plain to see that these people aren't after equality, they want to do actual social engineering.

Well, the "sex should not be assigned at birth" bit comes off as really, really unnecessary. The vast majority of human being do not suffer from Gender Dysphoria. I guess it is the desperate desire of trans people to feel like they belong. I'm all for embracing them and be supportive, but they need to come to terms with the fact that they are a minority among cis people, and will overwhelmingly likely forever remain as such.

I'd say that the trans issue has become entangled with politics and ideologies that don't necessarily relate to their issues at all, that's why we're seeing what you call "social engineering attempts". Blame the terrible idea that is "intersectionalism".

What's even more infuriating is that the transgender woman that was handcuffed, when asked about unisex bathrooms, whined "I DON'T WANT UNISEX BATHROOMS, I AM A WOMAN".

That's a problem. If people don't feel comfortable about exposing their genitals in front of you, their feelings should be respected, no matter how bigoted you believe them to be.

As long as they're willing to fulfill a woman's or man's societal obligations I don't see anything wrong with it.

I really think the idea that biological imperfections mean that transition is inappropriate is a bit odd. What actually matters in human society is social role and function. Most traditional human societies acknowledge the reality of a certain portion of their population having a mismatch (generally of soul not mind persay) and body, and have rules and customs for dealing with this.

Clinicalisation of this makes me leery. That’s all a modern thing about treating such a characteristic of the mind as a disease, about imposing medical order on the human spirit. Since some religions like Bahai faith, Shia Islam and with the rules of the Hijra community, Hinduism, explicitly accept it, there is jo question that a religiously plural society must accept it.

To me bodily perfection is irrelevant compared to sincerity and sacrifice. The ritual act of bleeding in surgery can be said to be an initiation into womanhood and that equity of blood is more important than any presumption of modern medical science to me. Something involving the human soul should always be timeless, not dependent on technology.

I am more inclined therefore to treat the matter as a spiritual one, and only reluctantly accept a medical definition because of the need to provide a clear-cut social order and sense of security for those with different spiritual views.

Ultimately, whether or not an individual is transsexual will be apparent in their mannerism. If they’re female in spirit they will act it, and they will desire to maximise their femininity. They will try to fit in. They will care about hair removal and plastic surgery on the face. They will take vocal lessons. And they will get reconstructive surgery as soon as possible. In summary, I simply don’t believe it’s appropriate to stand in the way of a human soul on her journey, but by that journey may you judge them.

Shhhh don't give him ideas, I want him to answer honestly and directly what he meant.
She actually. And, y'know help ensure the future of our nation by creating families. In the case of transgenders, the transexual women can't get pregnant but I'm sure there's orphans who need families and they still need mothers at home to help tend to their rearing as the matriarch.

......

The hell does this mean? Its not "stay in the kitchen" is it? Please tell me it isn't.
I mean I do think it's bad to force women to pursue an occupation. I would get much more fulfillment from being at home with my children and making sure my home is in running order rather than slaving away at some 9-5 that I and I believe most women are ill-suited for.

Yeah she's a woman in her eyes so she wants a female bathroom. Why is this surprising?

Because this is a violation of the "your right to swing your arms end where the other person's face begins" principle. Sure, a transgender woman may have problems seeing themselves as their physical gender, but that doesn't justify placing actual biological women under stress for said condition by walking to the ladies' room and whipping out their penis.

See, things like this are why I consider intersectionality and identity politics to be inherently selfish. This whole transgender bathroom incident only confirms my belief.

Sure, I'm all for trans rights, but it's kind of difficult to assist people whose rallying cry is basically this:

"Where are my rights? I am an LGBTQWTFBBQ, I am a victim of the world, GIVE ME MY RIGHTS! Responsibilities? Fuck your cis het white male patriarchal responsibilities!"

Just a suggestion here, but how about we leave adults to decide for themselves how they ought to live out their lives, whatever their gender? If you enjoy taking care of your children then great for you! But that does not mean everyone is obligated to follow your example. There are plenty of arrangements that work just as well, such as the male being the caretaker, or both partners sharing that responsibly, or families with two males or two females who shared the responsibility, possibly even more than two parents, although I don't think such a thing is common yet, but given the growing popularity of polyamorous relationships its only a matter of time before they pop up.

In some cases even the grandparents fullfil that role.

Single parent households are also a thing, although personally I think it risks that the children grow up with a mostly absent parent so that's not ideal (although who knows, maybe some can make that work)

In short there are many ways for parents to raise children, what works for one family doesn't necessarily works for another.

Traditional family structure is awesome - for couples who feel comfortable with it.

As long as the children are not neglected and receive the attention, affection and education they require to grow in a psychologically healthy way, I don't feel there is any need to judge exactly how this is achieved.

That's an understatement. The research is very clear that children of single-parent households are often the highest-risk of various unsavory things as they grow up.

Hmm, since gender dysphoria has been deemed as crossed brain wires, why haven't we started working on uncrossing those brain wires instead of treating the outer physical appearance?

Fair enough. Although I'd guess that in most cases the single parent is not a single parent by choice.

Either "science is hard" (and brain science a thousand times so), or politics (the left will scream "transgender genocide!" or something like that), probably both.

Ideally, a person with diagnosed gender dysphoria will be given both choices with clear explanations about the risks and consequences both entail.

If a solution that helped remove the neurological component of gender dysphoria appeared, sucker bet the left is going to shoot it down faster than you can say "go".
Pretty much, yep. Since they advocate basing your entire identity on gender issues (that sounds mentally healthy...), such a "cure" will be tantamount to taking away the transgender person's self from them in their eyes.

In any case, all these decisions should be left for consenting adults to decide, not screeching ideologues from both sides.
