Welcome to Thorp!
In this game, you will be in charge of an average group of settlers from the world of Dungeons and Dragons, attempting to survive and thrive in the frontier you have selected by voting via PM. The terrain around you, the many monsters inhabiting it, and the travelers from other lands that you meet are all randomly generated using tables in the various game manuals, with as little arbitration as possible. Your NPC villagers and even your own characters are drawn from classes based on their statistical prevalence in the game world.

You will each control a character, a third level PC, but you will also have a measure of control over the lives and actions of the NPCs in your settlement, assigning them jobs and tasks that they will generally perform.
Remember, the dangers of this world are randomly generated, and doom lies around every corner, use extreme caution if you wish to survive.

What does this have to with Caster Edition rules?
Not sure what you mean by Caster Edition.
This is going to be a DnD 3.5 game run along the lines of this description:

In this game, you will be in charge of an average group of settlers from the world of Dungeons and Dragons, attempting to survive and thrive in the frontier you have selected by voting via PM.

The terrain around you, the many monsters inhabiting it, and the travelers from other lands that you meet are all randomly generated using tables in the various game manuals, with as little arbitration as possible. Your NPC villagers and even your own characters are drawn from classes based on their statistical prevalence in the game world.


You will each control a character, a third level PC, but you will also have a measure of control over the lives and actions of the NPCs in your settlement, assigning them jobs and tasks that they will generally perform.

I previously posted an interest check in Q&R general, here

I'd like to check for interest for a 3.5 DnD game inspired by the game Dwarf Fortress, where the players take control of a small group of settlers and try to thrive while presented with the natural dangers and challenges detailed in the game manuals.

Would anyone around be interested in playing, or be willing to learn, 3.5 dnd?

Also quite the history buff and a good listener (eavesdropper), learning the local tales and information in a matter of minutes from being in an inn.

On a brilliant day of midspring you have arived at your destination among the Forrest of Copper. Your band consists of TWENTY dwarven villagers lead by FIVE brave souls. You have claimed this land for your own and your Kingdom, and will build it up to glory, or die in the way. A trade caravan should arrive in two months to check on you.
Strike the earth!




You fully control your own characters just like in DnD normally, but you also partially control every villager and animal, in that you can, collectively as players, assign them tasks or jobs. Currently, none of them have jobs or tasks, so they will do very little besides eat. Time will generally pass quickly, so that large scale tasks can be accomplished, but you can also operate at the smaller, more familiar DnD roleplay scale to interact personally with each other and with the villagers. I will post updates showing progress of work and changes to the area.

Thetmerlun sets to work quickly, first casting Augury over the upper left area of our clearing (out to where the large underbrush beggins, not the tree line), asking his god if it would be a good idea to dig down and north here until enough dirt and stone was dug out to make shelter for all dwarves here. Should the result come up as Woe or Weal and Woe he will repeat again in the lower right area aimed south, should this be woe as well then he'll select the upper right area aimed east and hope for the best as he only has 2 castings of augury prepared. If either of the first two return Weal he will choose that spot, if the first returns Nothing then he will attempt to cast Augury again there, if it is nothing again then he will select that location as his dig site.

That location selected, Thetmerlun will cast Foraging Charm and walk around the clearing, identifying what nearby local plants are edible, and point these out to all our colonists. He will then do the extremely important job of granting any man who wishes for one a Holy Symbol of Iudek, The Stable Brilliance. That done, he will task the 8 lightest-looking dwarves with mounting up on eight of our light horses and traveling in teams of 2 to scout each cardinal direction for threats or resources. These scouts will be given instructions to blow their signal whistle if they are lost or in danger, at which time the main camp can blow their own whistles to help guide them back while preparing a defense.

The 5 sturdiest-looking dwarves will be tasked with beginning to dig our dwarfy hole- they will be given axes to clear trees around the area, and then will be charged with digging down at an angle shallow enough to move a loaded wagon up or down, and wide enough for two wagons. 3 dwarves will be tasked with less glamorous digging; digging several latrines for us. With that done they can assist the other diggers if they have time. 3 other dwarves will begin setting up tents and cooking for tonight's meal, they may have use of the logging axes if they need more space. Our last commoner dwarf will be tasked with looking over our animals with the help of our herding dogs.

Thetmerlun, once done with this directing, will erect a meager shrine to Iudek in his wagon and then assist in digging. Whenever enough water jugs have been drained for a full casting he will cast Create Water to refill them.
